My daughter got married 3 month's after Jim died. Funny her name is Dawn. My Dad walked her down the aisle and there was no Father daughter dance. A tribute and prayer was said for Jim.

I just married off my youngest child - son aged 25. It was hard but worked out beautifully -. You should walk her down the aisle! And give the speech her dad would have given. Have another child or spouse step in when you need to wlak back down the ailse after teh wedding too!

My son got married and his bride and her dad danced to Daddy's little girl which is a great slow dance. John it will be a beautiful memory she will treasure forever. Don't think for a second our Lord won't be there with Randy at his side celebrating and blessing each precious moment. It her most special day. Smile and let God work out the details. Sharon

I haven't been in this situation yet, so I really have no proven advice.

But I can say I'm wishing the very best that the day will be one filled with love, joy, and hope for the future. And I agree with sharon that her daddy will be right there watching oiver the whole beautiful day.

Hi dawn. My daughter just had a wedding. Her brother walked her down the isle and we had a small table on the alter with her Dads picture on it with a candle. My son walked me down the isle and we lighted the candle. Then when my daughter came down she took out one rose of her bouquet and gave it to me then took out another rose and laid it at her Dad's picture. At the reception she danced the father/daughter dance with her brother. We missed my darling but he was there in spirit. Hope her wedding goes great for you all. Terry

We found out in July my husband had cancer. He died 30 days later, the same month our (firstborn) daughter had been planning on getting married. It was, of course, all so very emotional. I did walk her down the aisle, just three weeks after his death. His ring that I wear on a gold chain was wrapped around her bouquet and she slipped it on her thumb as we walked down the aisle. (If you accept my friend request, you can see the picture.)
It truly broke my heart that she didn't have her father/daughter dance. They had been trying to decide on a song.
He had jotted down something I think was for his speech and I got up and read it in his place (almost got through it !).
Through it all, we did end up having a good time; it was the celebration we knew he would have wanted us to have.

P. S. At the end of the ceremony, his mother and I walked out side by side while his father walked behind us. I thought that worked out quite well.

When my husband and I got married in 2006 it was about 11 months after my stepdad died (I have no contact with my father). My mom walked me down the aisle. My neighbor from when I was growing up, who was like a 3rd grandpa, danced the father/daughter dance with me (my surviving grandfather was too frail to dance with me). At the ceremony, we had candles for our family members who had passed and had family light them during a moment of rememberance/silence.
