Teased kids taking guns to school shooting others to relieve their pain, disgruntled fired, laid off or ex employees going on shooting rampages, teens killing themselves because of the hurtful words of others and a shooting in Tucson perhaps committed because of angry words are all a part society today. People think they have a right to freedom of speach without thought to any conquences. We know that even here on an Internet site dedicated to the comfort and understanding of those widowed there are sometimes words that are hurtful to others. We all must be held accountable for our words and how they affect others. Not saying that we can't be truthful but be tactful, be considerate. So many sad events happening in the world, it should make one pause and reflect. I offer prayers to those in Tucson who have suffered through this sad event and for the parents of the young man who did this.

Your classmate is in my prayers. What a senseless act of violence. As a middle school teacher, I often worry about the angry kids who just act different and seem to be against the whole world. Gone are the days when kids are just being kids- there are some real troubled ones out there and teachers refer many to counselors and talk to parents, but I never see a difference. Unfortunately, teasing is an everyday occurrence in my school, much worse than when I was in school, so anti-bullying programs are a necessity. I just don't think they're enough. It's time for parents to be held accountable for the actions of their children. The public school system will change when this happens. Right now, administrators bow down to parents because they're scared of law suits. A real sad state of affairs. My belief is- it's broken- so fix it! As for Obama- very humanistic - a good man.

I will be praying for your classmate, all others who were wounded, those who lost their loved ones and for all of us in our country.

Those who are upset because they say there was too much cheering that it was too much. I feel like saying have you ever lost anyone? I know all of us here have and there are times that you just want to get up cheer for something that needs that kind of response. I was excited for those that were able to be there last evening because it's the beginning of healing for them. So, bless you all and may you continue to cheer as you make those baby steps.

Been praying for the ones left behind of the 6 that died, and for the ones shot and their families. Such a sad, sad situation! Our society has raised a few kids who are mad at the world. Yes, most of the time the parents are the problem, but, sadly, sometimes that is not the case. The person usually has "an excuse", but, is mainly mentally ill, or mentally disillusioned, whatever the term ~~ there is something not 'right' in a mind that can just turn a gun on strangers, especially a child.

We all know that life can change in a moment. Many people, unfortunately, found that out in Tucson. I truly hate that it happened!! Hopefully, prayers are going up all over our nation.

This is a modern picture of America. Focus is on material possessions, how good looking (or not) you are (compared to entertainment stars), what label you wear on your hip jeans, how much techno toys you have. We have lost our focus on loving our neighbors. We were all blessed with little to a lot when we were born. If we were blessed with a lot, the Bible says, we owe a lot to do good for God. Until our nation returns to spiritual values, we can expect that more and more of this will happen. Being rejected or despised because of your looks or personality can lead some people to suicide or murder as we see in the news way too often.

Obama's speech made me cry. He was so good at reminding those of us to really enjoy eachother while we have eachother here on earth. I thought it was so appropriate, and appreciated those words. He is our President, and we should respect him no matter what. ( I voted for him, and am a devout Democrat) My prayers to the victims, and I only hope justice is served. I hope that your classmate recovers fully and that she knows that the whole country is pulling for her. Hugs~Shelley
