I can relate- I thought I was going to be o.k. this season, but as soon as I entered the stores, a sadness rolled over me, so I went home and ordered everything on line. Maybe next year...

i did most on line as well. i ventured into a mall once and i agree with you, it was just overwhelming. i have ventured into a few small local stores. it just is not the same!!
hopefully we will all find a much deeper meaning of the day this year, and i hope that brings us all peace
oh, by the way, ham and scallop potatoes is one of my favorite combinations, i am envious!!

I do use Christmas shopping as a relief. It helps me put focus on my family and friends who have supported me over the last 5 months. It does make me sad when I venture into the mens department and see something for Bill.

I love ham with cheesy potatoes! comfort foods!

I did my shopping early as I was having surgery in December. I purposely stayed away from the mens departments as I would find myself seeing something and thinking that Rodger would like that. Now I find that the closer it gets to Christmas the harder it is. All of the cards that I receive have messages in them about how difficult this year must be for me. Of course they are all from people who have no idea what it is like. Diane

I can relate - it is hard to go shopping and seeing all the couples and hearing all the Christmas songs. I have done very little and am giving more gifts of money. Mostly shopped for my grandkids, but they are teenagers so one gift is almost my limit for each child. Hopefully, it will be better next year. This is my first Christmas - my husband passed away on July 20 - and I cannot wait until the holiday season is done. Hugs and prayers

I find it terrible as well. As soon as I hear a Christmas song I start to cry and leave the store. I leave in such a small town and lived here all my life, I can`t go into any of the stores without recgognizing someone.and they say how sorry they are and I start crying again.....

Rob passed away in May and I knew early on that I wouldn't be able to handle Christmas shopping so my mom and I got everything done by September and the rest I did online. We still go out a few times a week to pass time but it's easier not having to "shop" and just follow her around. Can't wait till this month is over!

I also had to walk out of a few stores to regin my composure. The good thing is that it is all done and while wrapping gifts I can cry and still it the job done for my family.
It's the first Christmas without her.
