I've moved mine to my right hand as well. I still sometimes put it on my left hand out of habit. Apparently, no one has noticed or if they have, they haven't mentioned it. Of course, I'm at almost five years and no one has asked me anything about why I still wear my wedding ring anyway. Of course, I love my ring and I will not quit wearing it.

I took my rings off (period) about three months ago. My left hand still feels naked, yet also has the demarcation of the rings I wore. I'm looking to replace with "something" . . maybe having rings re-made or ?? We'll see. All I can say is that it is a strange adjustment and transitional period that will take time to get used to. I had to take my ring off a few months ago...I used to play with it all the time, twist it and such..also would tap it to music..subconscious motions really..an yet i caught myself doing it one day and it reminded me of all i've lost..

its on my key ring now...

For me I will always wear my ring on my left hand. No one will ever replace my love...

I really like the key ring idea. If I was such a scatterbrain sometimes I would put my hsuband's band on my keychain, but I don't trust myself not to lose it. Still want to have something made from is band, his medic-alert and chain and maybe my ring, just don't know what yet - then again, maybe not. I'll do what feels right, when it feels right.

well obviously that should say "wasn't such a scatterbrain...", which I guess just proves my point:). I'm tired, but the dog will not stop pacing tonight....I think she still looks for him some nights - it's been 5 months but she just hasn't been the same since he passed.

I wore my wedding rings for 21 years. I never took them off for any reason. My husband has been gone for 16 months now and I finally took the rings off and placed them away a few months ago. I must admit it took quite a while before I no longer felt "naked". I don't wear rings anymore on either hand, but on rare occasions, I still take them out and put them on for the day, like when my son was getting his driver's license and on the first day of school. For some reason, when the kids are having a milestone moment, it makes me feel better to have my rings on because it's like my husband is still there celebrating that particular event with us. I don't like being a single mom and just having that tiny ring on my finger makes me feel like I'm not all alone with just the kids. I think it's makes the kids feel better too because they both noticed when I took my rings off the first time. Moving forward is unfortunately a necessary evil....

JoAnn-you'll lend up doing what feels right. I just turned 54 2 weeks ago, and I think it was part of my decision to change my ring hands. I couldn't foresee feeling "married" for all my remaining years. I'm not saying I ever want to be in another relationship - not even ready to contemplate if that is an option for me. Just need to realize my current status is not married, it is widowed - and that is not the same, but as I said in my original post, nor is it single or divorced. I know already I will never refer to myself as single. I will always be connected to my love in the way only other widows/widowers can understand.

I will ALWAYS feel like Morey's wife. I loved being Morey's wife. I remember when I was 20 years old and someone asked me a question and I answered, "my husband did that", how strange it sounded. Then to be his wife for so long......I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!

I will ALWAYS wear a ring on my left hand.....it feels strange when I don't! I was so proud to be his and to know that he was mine. I gave his ring to our son and he wears it around his neck.

I finally took my wedding ring off, and put it in a ring box in the safe, I never thought I would, but for some reason, unkown to me at this time, I just did it one day with out even really thinking about it.

My daughter is getting married in 3 weeks, oh how I am dreading that day, should be a day of joy, but for me, I know it will be a day of sadness, as it will just elevate my sadness of all the things my children will miss out on having thier mom there with them.

I like the idea of putting it on for special occasions, maybe I will wear my ring for her wedding, just a little way of reminding myself that she is there with us.

I bought myself a new ring to wear on my left hand. It's symbolic to me of my marriage but doesn't look like so much like a wedding ring. Like you I wasn't ready to go "nude". Some days I wear my engagement ring. It depends on how the mood takes me. At home I often wear nothing and I'm slowly getting used to the absence of a ring altogether. I had taken my rings off a few years ago due to an illness. I had disseminated histoplasmosis, and with that a LOT of swollen joints. While I was on treatments, my son's good friend was having troubles at home, and his parents threw him out the day he turned 18. He had no place to go, and it was January in Michigan. We let him stay with us.

He "robbed us blind" to use a clich. Stole about ten grand in jewelry, cash, tools, and a few electronics. Including my engagement and wedding band, my family ring, and many others.

Last July, my husband and I had gotten the "wedding" tattoos on our ring fingers. I have his initials and he had mine. I cannot change my ring... but I don't think I would anyway. I am still very married to him. I want no other...

Funny I moved my ring to my right hand just the other day. I put a dress ring Jo gave me awhile back on my left hand. I think she would like that. Plus these was a white ring around my finger on my left hand and did not people thinking I was playing some kind of game.

At six months I took my wedding rings off and set them with my husband's on my dresser with plans to give them to the grandkids some day. I had a mother's ring that Jake gave me years ago with all of our birthstones on it so I immediately put that on my left hand. I think I would have walked crooked if I didn't have a ring on that hand after 40 years of wearing one!

I'm with you Mary--I'm not married anymore but I don't like the category single either. I much prefer widowed--that acknowledges my marriage as well as the fact that Jake is no longer with me.
