I lost my wife Oct 25th from breast cancer of which she was a 5 yr survivor. Her last bi-annual check up was in June which she did over the phone reviewing her blood work with the oncologist due to our moving the next day out of state. 3 months later they found an 8 cm tumor near her right lung. Obviously a blood test didn't reveal anything!

I'm going to seek her records to see how often they ordered X-rays. We had a GP that she saw that also knew of her past history. Starting to believe we could've been victimized by cost saving measures. I already have enough of the usual guilt (what could I have done differently) working so imagine my anger now. My dad saw his blood oncologist and asked if a blood test was a typical 6 month check up routine. I never heard my father cry but he sobbed on the phone and apparently in his Dr's office when his Dr. told him it was NOT the way most do 6 month evaluations. I'm fearful of what I might do IF it is determined her death was preventable. You might see me on the nightly news. They also were giving her Arimidex which I now know causes osteoporosis (sp). She broke a bone in her foot in June and got an ankle fracture in August. How could I assume professionals were doing their best for my wife?!!!?

They better hope I don't contact a terminal illness soon....or I will have company.

I'm so sorry for your loss but glad you found this site. The people here are so kind and understanding.

My wife, Donna passed away a little over 2 years ago of breast cancer. About 6 months from diagnosis to her passing. My profile is open and her story is there if you wish to read it. I now also have a DIL that is fighting a tumor in her liver. They claim it is a rare one too.So many people who are coming down with rare cancers it is disconcerting.

I do believe we are all in God's hands.

My husband didn't have rare cancer but it was rare for someone with his cancer to die so quickly from it. In dec 2013 my husband at age 29 was diagnosed with CML and in May 2014 he passed away. All the doctors said he should have at least 10 years before the cancer would effect him critically so I feel at a total loss how everything went so terrible wrong so quick. We were in and out of hospital the whole 6 months and I sit and wonder if we should of done something different or if I should have taken him back sooner the last time he went to hospital. Cancer is something I don't think anyone can understand or predict as I was my mums carer when she got cancer but she fought it for 7 years when they told her she only had a year. I think God knows how much someone can take and also when He is ready to bring them home I don't think anything we can do will change it. You did what you thought was best at the time.
God was listening to your prayers and still is He just has other plans .
