I do believe in that also. You often read of a spouse dying within days of their partner and they say they died of a broken heart. If I had been frail heath wise when this horrible journey began it would have finished me.

I have friends whose youngest daughter died in a car accident about the time of her high school graduation. Her father after a few months had to have a stent put in his heart. He had never had any heart problems before and has had none since. His wife and I discussed that it their daughter's death broke his heart.

I don't know anyone who has lost a spouse who experienced heart problems but I do know three women who, after their spouses died from cancer, all ended up in Alzheimer's facilities within a year or so. That made me very aware of how difficult caregiving is and the permanent trauma that can be inflicted on people as a result. I find it sad that we as a people do not have better options for people who are dying. It seems wrong that caring for someone at times costs another their life as well.

A good friend of mine almost lost her life to Broken Heart syndrome. The doctors told her that was her diagnosis. Her heart is better now if only her emphsema would go away. Of course it won't. If you look it up online you will see the symptoms. It is no joke-it can happen.

Oh I forgot to add my friend had lost her husband of many years.

So sorry to hear about your friend's grandson. My prayers go out to them, and his parents. Losing a child must be so heartbreaking. The stress and sorrow of grief is so hard on the body and mind, that anyone in less than good health would certainly be at risk of heart problems. I never knew there was an actual diagnosis for this. It sure does make sense, considering the pain that a person is forced to endure.

Howie has been gone almost 16 months. On the 28th I have an appointment out of town to see a cardiologist as something showed up on a stress test and my GP said something about a 25% possibility of Hear Disease. I`m 49 years old. I wanted to reply that of course there is a 25% possibility of Heart Disease. It`s that section of my heart left with scar tissue from losing him...

It's real. A medical report I saw on television confirmed it.
