One thing is for sure there will always be a business for death.
Even an inexpensive funeral is still expensive.
Simple is always better, these days weddings are over the top and Funerals have become the same.
Thankfully, Ben wanted simple as simple could be....I want the same.
Hugs again....Sandra
Be strong.
So, I have made my own plans for my cremation. I already bought the adjacent plot next to hers, the urn, and everything, except the actual cremation. My daughter knows where the documents are and what to do with them, after I go. I stressed very hard, DO NOT LET THEM SELL YOU A BUNCH OF SHIT!
My bill was 2K and I bitched about that. Lesson! Friends will screw you as quick as the next crook down the street. The funeral business to me has a worse reputation than car dealers and bankers. to be a successful car dealer most have larceny in their hearts and as far as bankers my brother is one and I would not trust him for much of anything. I love my brother but he has no ethics and screws people on an equal basis.
So much for my rant on people taking advantage of others at difficult times.
The way I see it from my point of view.

I did not have flowers and requested no flowers in his death notice....I just placed a single red rose on the table in the church. I did not place pictures or have one of those marqee things running either. Just a simple service that was lovely. My brother and his best friend spoke as well as our Pastor.
If some of you feel you got screwed then I suspect you did not do your homework regarding cremation or casket, cemetery. Yes I know you were grieving, so was I.
We made all of our funeral arrangements (less the choice of casket and headstone) years ago, but we knew the general costs of everything involved. If I would have went first whatever she would have chosen would have been her decision and hers alone.
It`s the last thing we will ever do for them.

Yes, that is usually the line they use......sigh. I think we all did what we thought was right for our spouses and what we could afford. I know I can sleep at night and he won't come back and smack my fanny (just kidding) for spending a small fortune when he was already gone.
