Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I think your dream (and I don't read dreams or read dream books) represents how you feel about the loss of your spouse, being with him, enjoying the walk, and then suddenly he is gone, so it triggered the nightmare.
It's all okay, please don't worry ~
Our initial reaction is not always what we think it could mean ~
You might want to read my reply about the dreams I had of Bob leaving me on page 2 titled "dream" by drew4lostluv ~
I had 2 dreams of Bob wanting to leave me each in a different scenario ~
In all 3 dreams he looked healthy & normal as he did in everyday life instead of my last view of him w/a crushed head & neck ~
Appearing as handsome as ever was an attempt to change the traumatic memory I had of him at the time of his death ~
In the 3rd & final dream, Bob explained the previous dreams were meant to help me recover from my grief by presenting a different way of him leaving me; I was suppose to choose one to also replace the memories of the car collision & his funeral to make death easier to cope with ~
My brain tries to be so helpful in providing different coping skills albeit unrealistic, but the main point being one of encouragement to keep moving toward my goal ~ *wink*
Unfortunately, both dream scenarios were highly unacceptable, at the same time, they were a true reflection of Bob's personality as a loving snarky human being ~ *too cute!*
My take is my dreams (subconscious) were to change the way I thought about his death to reflect it as the next phase of eternal life he willingly chose to be a part of ~
Even though I thought the better place for him to be was w/me ~
Those dreams were actually a big help in no longer thinking about him as a victim or myself ~
It pushed me to cope w/the anger at the man who killed him including the manner of his death ~
Coming to our home provided a perfect setting of safety, a relaxed feeling open to acceptance until he opened his mouth ~ *wink*
I was also reassured of my spiritual beliefs he would always be w/us when called for ~
Hope this helps ~

I think our brains just keep working while we sleep. Sometimes I believe in interpretation, but mostly I think our neurons just keep firing away.
Dream interpretation is left to the person w/the dream to find their own truth of its meaning ~
Your dream has distinct parts for you to consider ~
Here's a start that might be helpful ~
"
George jumped into the water leaving you behind ( I feel like I just lost him again) to go get his soul (shoes have soles)" ~
That is my interpretation, you don't have to agree w/it just try to use whatever you can to answer all your questions about the dream or surf the web ~
I am sorry for your loss, and sorry you had to join this group. But we have all been where you are, and we understand. So say whatever is on your mind. We will listen.
HUGS, Sandee
Water means different things to different people in dreams, but rivers usually mean some kind of movement or change - rivers flow to somewhere, unlike a lake which stays in one place. Shoes sometime signify journeys or travel - a 'going somewhere' significance. It sounds like George was needing to go somewhere, it would be a change, and the fact you couldn't see through the water would reflect that you cannot see where he has gone to now. I think it was probably another adjustment type dream - i.e., adjusting to him not being with you, your life changing, etc.
The change in seasons sometimes brings these things up, too. It's summer now and if you and he used to do your walks in the summer that may be part of what brought it up for you.
That's just my guess on it anyway. It could always be something you ate, too! I have found some foods will trigger intense dreaming for me, and some even nightmares. I hope you got a better night's sleep last night.
Love and Hugs,
Martha
