I'm not a realtor, but I know how hard it is to sell homes. I'm in California and I work for a newspaper. Some of the homes here have been listed for months. I can't add much to your list of things to do except make sure you investigate every internet source available. Craigslist is okay (it frightens me a bit, I won't use it) - but there are lots of online sources.
In the newspaper ad is there a photo included? Newspaper advertising is relatively cheap right now (we're struggling too) - so you might get a deal. Ask for it. FSBOs get attention if you market it right.

It is really great to let all of your neighbors know, too - even people a a few streets over. Sometimes a family member or friend wants to move in the area. But it is a really tough market, at least where I am. Even the house inspectors, etc. are saying the same - slow market.

One suggestion that I would make is that if someone wants to come and tour your home that you have someone else with you. I would make sure I put in the ad "by appointment only" and maybe that would prevent some people from dropping by unannounced.

There are all kinds of Guerilla Marketing tactics you can use on your own. My business is Marketing and Advertising -- I would need to know more about your property to give you some FREE advice on what you could do to sell it. I would be very careful with Craig's List. There are so many scammers skimming that site. Depending on the size of your property and the market value of it, I would not try to sell it myself. You need the right Realtor -- There is a process to selecting the right realtor. There some tricks of the trade you can apply to your property to make it more sellable without slashing your sale price -- timing is also a factor. I'll be happy to give you some pointers on marketing your property on your own -- I assume you have some RE knowledge -- Advertising can be an expensive proposition without a sound marketing plan/strategy. I think you need to contact a service that will get your house listed in the MLS, the listing realtors use to find out what's for sale. I think you can get listed there for about 300 bucks. Don't expect to have too many realtors showing your house from this, but many websites grab listings from the MLS in response to queries by people lookihg to see what's for sale in a given area. I don't know the name of one of the companes that provide this listing service, maybe someone else here does, or you can google it.

There is a For Sale by Owner website. I looked into it years ago, back in the days of a sellers market. It will cost you some money, but not nearly as much as the 6%. They have advertising/marketing help and I'm not sure but you might be able to get a MLS listing. The MLS listing will be great for people in other parts of the country looking to retire/relocate in the PNW.
Have "take-one" flyers available for "drive-by" lookers. I'm trying to sell a piece of property in a VERY rural area, the only adv I have is flyers and a phone number and I've actually gotten a few calls.

What about getting your ranch on a listing service? It is not free, but you are not paying them to sell. In our area Windemere is the best, your place will be on search engines nationwide and beyond. Totally off topic, but you sold your husbands buisness things? Maybe those people could help you network - or be interested? What about your nieghbors wanting to expand? Just a few thoughts to throw out there. G-
