My wife passed away 7 weeks ago. We voted in our primary when she first started to get sick and she insisted we go. She couldn't hardly get in and out of the car but she was determined to go vote. She never missed voting. She so wanted to vote in this election but sadly she didn't make it. I made sure all her family voted in her honor. She would be proud of them.

My husband passed just 19 days ago, and this is the first time I have voted without him. We never missed a voting day, not even the small city only elections. All these firsts are like pins just pushing into you everytime you try to move, or breath. Hang in there, I like to believe he would be proud of you carrying on with your life.

I vote early by mail. It is also my first time voting without my husband. I just don't know why they still sent him the voting materials and the jury duty summon. He's been gone for nearly six months.

We always took the kids with us, and eventually the boys were old enough to vote, too, so then we all voted together. The first time I had to take them alone was really hard. The pollworkers all knew us - we'd seen the same ones year after year, and they were surprised it was just 3 of us. I am glad I went for early voting that time....

Please do get out to vote. We could not get our overseas absentee ballots so we will not be able to vote. I am still a US citizen, I have the right to vote for my President, but the system for getting our ballots from Florida was totally screwed up. I went through the US Embassy site, which put me through to the Dept. of State site, which channeled me to the Florida State site, which then put me through to my local Florida County site which failed. So there are 3 US citizens in the UK who have been disenfranchised for certain - me and my sons. Expect trouble this election like we had in 2000....

This is my first presidential election voting without my husband. I vote at every election and the first time I went to vote without him, I looked for his name because it had only been a few months. His name was not on the registry. It made me feel as if he was just erased. That made me sadder than not having him with me. I guess I was hoping to see his name. I'm getting ready to leave the house to go and vote. My husband would be disappointed if I didn't go. Politics was something we both enjoyed.

Me too! I hated it! I've hated the whole process. We used to have the liveliest discussions right up until voting day. I miss that SO badly this time. Reading my sample ballot all alone and having nobody to bounce ideas off of.
I'm sorry for this. I'm sorry for all of us with this. I didn't think it would affect me so much after a year as passed.

My first time, too. We didn't have passionate political discussions, but he was vastly more conservative than I. We usually cancelled out each others votes and laughed about it!

It was my first time too, my husband passed away in February, but we always walked down to vote together, and he would always talk to me, when we were voting and I would always shush him. It made me smile to think of him doing that today!

Mine too. We always voted together, so it was another hurdle to get over.
