BUT ya know what this is the last frost free one that can break, this winter has been exceptionally cold. And they are over 10 yrs old; At first I thought maybe this is a sign telling me to move, but I do not think so. Where would I go where I feel as safe up here. I think its telling me I can do this -
my good neighbor will be over to fix this the third one!!! And hopefully the last - we did get new snow & how 1 ft 8" & extra cold again after things were looking like spring. SO please Lord let this be the last, please.

The birds and quail have been feed: they are so fun to watch, the two horses fed both doing well, my two dogs fed, the 2 yr lab bugging me to death, my two cats fed RC pestering me, BUT its being done.
I can not believe the broken pipes are a sign for me to leave this....

I am so sorry to hear that you have another broken pipe, but glad that someone is coming to fix it. Also that you got more snow; may the sun come back and melt it fast for you! If things breaking in a home are a sign that you should leave, then my house told me to go a long time ago! I do have to admit to saying a few times myself "This house hates me!" No, it doesn't; it is just old. The thing is that before, when things needed working on, our spouses were here to help us deal with it. Now we have to figure it out ourselves. You are way resourceful, I know you will be fine; just hang in there, and once winter leaves for good it will be so much better. Also, now you will have some new pipes that should be good for a long time! I know everytime I turn around another thing needs fixing, redoing, breaks down, quits working or becomes inhabited with mice, birds, or (just yesterday) ants. It is a constant battle, but that also is just part of what makes a home a home. Character? Is that what they call it? If that is the case, our homes have a lot of it! Take care, Julie

Mercy ~ you have alot of snow!! I'm in Michigan, and we still have quite a bit too. I'm surprised I didn't have any broken pipes. This WAS a cold year. But I've been making sure the basement got some heat too.

One thing I dread is water in the basement!! ACK!! Last year my water heater blew up. I thought maybe THAT was a sign I needed to get out of here. But I couldn't leave here -- this is where my hubby died. I just can't leave.

It will soon be spring!! I hope. lol Hugs, Lee

Nicker, you are amazing. If anyone can make it through all that you have, it is you! You give the rest of us hope and a little "kick in the butt" to get on with things we know we need to fix. A fairy Godfather is not going to come wave a wand over it and be done with the fix. I have some very rotten landscape timbers that need to be replaced. I know I can do it.....I know I can do it......I know I can do it! Now, get to it!!! Oops, also there is the insulation under the house and around the heat/air ducts that the stray cats have torn up. I can do it.....I can do it......I can do it!

With me it is the furnace going out. It has happened 4 times this winter. I just call the repairman and finally he put a whole new board in. The furnace is only 5 years old. He didn't charge me except for the cost of the board. There are some advantages to being a poor widow woman. I do think about moving sometimes but I'm not ready yet. Diane
