It is so hard to not have those times together. I would even love to have a fight over some stupid thing. Just to feel something again besides despair would be nice. I sure miss her.

I too would trade one of our rough moments for ths time here. AnY of our Roughest moments were so much better than this!!!!!Some of our hardest times are now some of my favorite memories. Of course you dont realize it then........And now that you do , its too late.

We were Barbie and Ken, but with kids. Barbie just kept having "little sisters" I would like to find a way to feel like I can deal with what is on my plate. By the way, who are Bogie and McCall?

It's a hard road we travel. I wish that I can say that it gets easier, but I think we just grow to accept that we can't change our fates. Sometimes I feel that widowhood is who I am. Sometimes it feels like the other life was just a dream.

I am having the same lonely feelings tonight. Today is my birthday, the first one without my Phil and it is just plan crappy.

I agree the lonliness is horrible. My husband worked at our home and we spent so much time together. I stay very busy with family, friends, work and church but I am surprised I feel so lonely even in a group. It is very nice and helpful to share feelings with this group.

Jerry was always on my left side, and we always held hands - even in Costco. My head fit right almost on top of his shoulder. It took a year to say ''I'', and not ''We''. I still can't believe it. I'm so glad that the Dr. said that I made the right choice as far as his health care - I am reliving it today, with the shooting in Arizona - brain injury. The waiting for days to see if anything was going to come back function wise from his massive stroke. The Dr. showed me his brain stem. The Dr. made me decide about life support, which Jerry and I carefully discussed only a year before that when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at 61. We were ready for a long journey, but nothing prepared me for this. Only until I decided, standing up, all alone in the hall of ICU, did the Dr. tell me it was the right choice. I know it was, because we discussed this, but - so sad. Yeah, despair is the word.

No matter how long I'm without Don I never will get used to it. There are always times of sadness and missing him terribley. Yes, if I had my life to do over I would do the same and marry him, have children with him, and then let him go home to peace and glory. Don always taught me love was an open hand not a clenched fist. In the beginning of my loss my fists were clenched with pain and loneliness. Now I have an occasional clenched fist day but I strive to see the blessings in my past and look for new ones to celebrate today. Some days are harder than others, but I try. Sharon

I can say "ditto" to all of the above. Today has been a hard day, don't know exactly why, just a very lonely, long day. Reading here at least makes me know that although alone in my home without my beloved I am not alone in my feelings .
