This was My first Thanksgiving without my wife in 41 years.  I have no desire to even think about the next one coming up.

Right there with you, but since I'm Canadian it will be Christmas that will the first holiday without her in 43 years.

I was with my husband 42 years, I made it through thanksgiving but dread Christmas. I took my sister-in-law to Golden Corral for lunch. spent the rest of the day on my own. my daughter did call to let me know she was thinking of me.

My husband died 9/30/15 at ag 59. We were together 33 years and thought we had many years ahead of us. Thanksgiving came upon me as the numbness was just wearing off. My mom's anniversary was 11/28. But I got through it and although the holidays are heavy, I'm determined to find joy. Even though I'm on the verge of tears and miss him so much, I find some happiness with family and try to enjoy the day of thanksgiving. Keep going, you can get through this. Look up to the sky and give thanks for the love even through the tears. I hope you find peace

Lost my better half this past March after 30yrs together. Thanksgiving went without celebrating it. Felt I made the right choice..... Plan to do the same for Christmas....maybe next Season I'll feel up to it then, hopefully! It will be a rough one for us that just lost recently. Holidays amplify emotions. I'll pass, thank you!

Its so difficult to even think of Christmas. My husband of 6 years passed away in June . It is so painful. I feel so alone.

I cried all morning, drove to my brother in law's house where all Mike's family gathered. Kept it together for most of the day. Cried all the way home. There is nothing more devastatingly lonely as walking into an empty house on a holiday.

I know the feeling. I have a hard time with everything, I told everyone I wasn't going to decorate anything this year. I went to our friends house for late dinner on Thanksgiving but then you come home, and the loneliness creeps in. Night time is always so hard. When the sun starts to set, you know you will still be alone. Each of us have our own grief. No one knows what pain YOU yourself have because it is yours. Mine is mine and there is no other like mine or yours. We just know what it means to lose the love of your life.
I really wish there were a chat room to talk to people about these things. But, this helps.
