Ok, so I fiinally admit it. I need help!!! I can't get caught up with everything that's overgrown, broken, needs fixed, replaced, cut down, finished, sorted through etc. etc. etc. The past few years with my husband's illness everything went to pot. So have reached out to ask for help. So NOT me. Tryed cutting the weeds, now eight feet tall in my backyard with my new toy now that it's a little cooler. And set off my allergies and now can't breathe. Shit. I am so overwhelmed with everything I don't know where to start. My list of shit to do keeps getting longer and longer. Still crying more than I want, the not sleeping hasn't changed. The exaustion is still here. And I miss him more each day. I know he would say to hire someone. I have always tried to do things myself. But I admit, there is too much!! Ok, I said it. All this crap just weighs me down. Embarrases me because I am perfectly capable of doing it. I just don't have the gumption. He was unable to do anything too physical for quite sometime, but at least he was here to keep me company. I am so scatter brained I can't concentrate on one simple task and see it through. Is this normal, or am I going completely nuts??? I just hate this feeling of weakness. Sorry, just needed to vent. A team just comes in, goes through all your closets and cupboards (they even sold half open bags of food and spices!), prices everything, and arrange severything on tables they bring in to make everything look and feel like a store. They advertise on all their websites and email lists, and promise to sell EVERYTHING. They keep 30-35% and give you a check for the rest. They sold furniture, clothes, art, knick knacks, linens, jewelry, appliances...a lot was pennies on the dollar but we didnt need it, and Im sure a lot of folks are now selling my stuff for a nice profit on their ebay sites, or resale stores, etc. But I didnt need it and we had to move on.
I was fortunate in that we were moving toward a next phase of our lives...it would have been awful if I had to do it after my husband died and my heart truly goes out to everyone now in that position.
Im just mentioning the Estate Sale concept because it is easy and painless, and a way to move on. They do all the work.
Sometimes when selling a house, a realtor might step in to help you clean it up. They may have access to cheap labor, and may take it out of their profits. This happened many years ago when we sold a house. It wouldnt cost you anything to interview realtors; perhaps you can find one that will help you get it into shape at no cost to you. There are lots of newbie or hard up realtors that would do anything to get a Listing. What may be overwhelming to us may be no big deal to those working in that field. Good luck.
