Yesterday I went to my Moms. I wanted to spend fathers day today with her and visit my Dads grave. When my Dad died four years ago I dont think I had any idea how terrible it is to lose your husband. Im trying to make it up to her a little bit. I really dont like being away from home its sort of my safety zone, but I went for her.

Anyway, I went to church with her. She still belongs to the church where Charlie and I were married and I knew it would be hard. I cried through the whole first part of the service remembering that hot summer night almost 46 years ago. That's the night we promised to be together forever - for all eternity.

When we went to take communion something wonderful happened. The soloist sang On Angels Wings. That is the song I chose for Charlies funeral. I know he sent it to me. He knew how hard it would be for me to be there without him. He was telling me he is all right and reaffirming our vows.

I probably wasn't a very pretty sight at the communion rail sobbing uncontrollably. Of course it upset my Mom, but she understood when I told her why.

I think that this was the first time in 10 weeks (actually 14 weeks when I count that terrible month in the ICU) that my tears were tears of joy.
