This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I think there is a similar British movie - same title and subject. Also very good.
It would be great to submit some of his wonderful quotes. Here's a start:
"To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless--it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable." CS Lewis

I'm watching some of it now.
"No one ever told me that grief felt so like fear. I am not afraid, but the sensation is like being afraid. the same fluttering in the stomach, the same restlessness, the yawning. I keep on swallowing.
At other times it feels like being mildly drunk, or concussed. There is a sort of invisible blanket between the world and me. I find it hard to take in what anyone says."
The fear and the blanket both resonated with me. I was almost crippled by fear when it came time to begin working on my farm last spring and interacting with others and so many everyday things.
Has anyone else had to work through crippling fear on their journey?
