I, too, am not a very "organized religious" person either, but I do believe hat there is an afterlife. Ever since G's passing, I have been searching for answers. I think I posted a while back a question about Mediums. I know that the elders of the church frown on Mediums, but I had to know IF it was possible and IF my G was ok. It nagged at me for such a long time, to where I just couldn't take it anymore.
I talked with a medium, and what she told me about my husband and myself...catch phrases that only he and I would know, things that only he and i would know, etc. I truly do believe that there is an afterlife, and they are here around us, checking in on us, and keeping a watchful eye.
That's the only experience I have, but it was worth it's weight in gold to me!!!

I know this experience has made me question my faith. I'm hopeful there is an after life. I've been dreaming of Brian on a weekly basis and he usually visits me several nights a week. He has also been in the dreams of a close friend. I hope it's him trying to reach out to me.

She began by telling me that her intent wasn't to upset me, and she wasn't sure if she should say anything or not. She said she saw my husband in a very vivid dream and he looked really well. She said he looked younger and healthier and that she remarked to him that death really agrees with him, he looks so well. He told her he was OK.
Of course, I was glad to hear that, it actually made me feel good. I wondered why he hadn't come to me, but then I thought--he knew she would pass the message along. Now I know this may sound bizziare to some people, but I accept it. I had a calling from my Mom not too long after she passed to let me know she was OK. How was that dream so different? First of all, it was very clear and vivid. I had to "wait" for her and I felt my heart just pounding as I was so excited to see and talk to her. The last two years of her life, she was on a vent and could not talk. During this 'visit", we stood side by side staring into a mirror. I watched her regress in age until she was around the age when she gave birth to me I asked her if she was OK and she said yeah. I remember every detail of this dream and when I woke up, I told my husband. I cannot tell you what peace this dream gave to me.
I hope at some later date, my husband will appear in a dream. It's not to say I haven't had dreams of him, they were just normal dreams. If I hadn't experienced this firsthand, I probably wouldn't believe it either!

I have had instant recognition that he is around, several near misses with the car, little signs here and there. Perhaps my imagination, superstition/wishfull thinking...but ...until proved otherwise (ha! how can that be done?) I will continue to thank him for dropping by, looking out for and saving my skin, or saying hello.
I would not put it past your husband to find someone who was more open to hear him. You are probably right about him being blocked by all your strong emotions.
I am so happy for you that he was able to speak through your friend to you.
Interesting that this topic comes up. I took a class on "understanding dreams and visions"... is was taught by Streams Ministries, which was founded my John Paul Jackson, who is the man that you spoke of on Joni Lamb. Streams is a Biblical based dream interpretation ministry and very helpful in determining what our dreams may mean. I'm still working my way through the homework to be able to interpret, and I wouldn't want to give anyone the wrong interp. Just suffice it to say that God DOES still speak through dreams and visions...it's pretty awesome!
