For those who haven't seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2,

There is a scene with the Father telling it's hard to be with someone for so long, knowing they are there, you go thru so much together. Then how hard it is to reach across to them in bed and they are no longer there...It was a hard passage to listen to...but on a high note, the movie is funny.
I needed to go see it, She wanted to go see it so she did with me.

wow those are great memories...i think i miss the most that he was such a caring and loving person not only to me but to everyone he knew...he was my rock my life my one and only and if I had to do it all over again he would be the one I choose....he came into my life at the right time and he gave me everything...I miss him every minute of everyday...and i know that if he did not have to go he would not have...

Oh, where do I start. Coming home from work and saying as I open the front door, "I'm home! I'm home"! And her saying, Hi Hon, how was you day. And I got give her a kiss. And then I would say, How was your day? And then we'd just naturally fill each other in on the day's events. Juanita loved to shop, but wouldn't drive out of town, so I was her chaufeer, and through the years, boy did I learn how to shop. Went shopping with my daugher-in-law and two of her cute friends out of town a couple months into my grief. They were amazed at my shopping skills and how much fun I was to shop with. Well, 30 years of shopping with a pro rubs off a little. And our yard. I so miss how she gave it (and everything else inside and out) the "Juanita touch". Whatever it was, if she did something to it, it looked awesome. She had an eye for beauty, she did. I miss our ministry work together, how the power of God would flow through her on the prayer line, and how at times I could barely keep up catching those that fell under the Spirit. And I miss watching her favorite tv shows with her. And I miss how she had the gift of hospitality -- the hostess with the mostest we liked to say. She would get so excited about her parties -- worked her buttinsky off, but she loved it. And her being my best cheerleader, always encouraging me no matter what. I had the best of lives, and I owe it all to her, and I did it all for her. But most of all, I just miss just holding her hand. That was our connection from the very beginning. Some people speak of fireworks. Not me. I knew she was the one because I never felt the touch of anyone like I felt Juanita. And if there be one thing that will set me into a grief spin it is anything related to her hands. You know, being able to love and to be in love is a wonderful gift that God gave to all of mankind -- all of us only have this pain in our broken hearts because for each of us, our love was real, and it was true, and it was deep. I am thankful that I miss her so much. It could be that she was my once in a lifetime love, and what a good run it was. Wouldn't trade our time together for anything. And this grief? Well, my time with Juanita was well worth all the pain I am suffering through now. She was well worth this price I must now pay. God bless and comfort all of us. ~~~ Scottie

I also miss just holding hands. The weeks before my husband passed, he fell asleep holding my hand. I took a picture of just our hands... I now have that picture on my fireplace mantel ... Oh how we all miss our spouses... Thanks all for being here.

I like what you wrote about shopping, Scott. I had very little tolerance for that as a younger man, but I learned to appreciate it as I grew older. Even shopping for groceries was fun. She was such a nice woman. We'd go shopping for her, and she'd try to hurry so I wouldn't get bored. I'd always tell her, take your time, dear. We're in no rush!

And the physical intimacy was fantastic, too. I'm not talking about sex. I'm talking about just kissing her goodbye in the morning as I left or cuddling her in bed as we fell asleep. Just hugging her seemed to drive all the world's problems away.

I'm very thankful to God for blessing me with such a good wife!

Feeling safe. Yes. That's a big one for me. Although I live in a very safe area, it's just the feeling that there is someone there who was always ready to rescue me protect me. Someone who would pick me up if I fell. Someone who always had my back. My special person who was always there for me.

Oh yes Pam- safety is a big one for me. I do not live in the safest neighborhood. And I have become more acutely aware of the sound of sirens. Not long after Bernie passed, there was a rash if purse snatchings in my town. I could hardly bring myself to go to the store. The world suddenly seems more violent and I suddenly feel much weaker and more vulnerable.
