This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Healing has been painful and slightly refreshing this week. Both daughters were home on spring break bringing a sense of normalcy. Also sadness with the first celebration of a combined birthday, mine and the oldest being the same day, without Alan.
We also had a bittersweet painful time together when a team from India, where Alan had been a number of times, returned and presented us with a video of the memorial service scattering his ashes at an orphanage being built that he was part of starting. They said we could watch it later, they didn't want to open old wounds. I said they aren't old and they're still open wounds.
The girls will be leaving today and I'm starting to feel the wave coming, I don't know if its healing or holding the wounds wide open.

I hope your day after your girls leave won't be too painful. (My 27 year old daughter, who lives 600 miles away, also visited me this weekend and will be leaving soon -- quiet again. . .

And how thoughtful of the team from India to want to give something back to Alan's family. What an inspiration he must have been to so many people.
