We are still waiting for the gravestone placement. I know I will breakdown when it is placed. You had so much tragedy at once. My heart goes out to you and I cannot imagine what you and your son are going through with so much.

Like you I also lost my husband almost 6 months ago. I am also young(er) than I ever thought I would be as a widow. I have good days, bad days, and in-between days. I think of him everyday and try to at least talk with him for a few minutes a day. I found inspiration in many books associated with the afterlife and raising your spiritual awareness. I did a gravestone with both our names on it, so when I go to the cemetery to plant flowers etc...I see my name too and know one day we will be together again. Mariko, I am sorry for your loss. I lost my husband on Dec 29 - just 2 days before you - and I am 46. My husband was quite a bit older than me, so realistically, I knew I would be in this position some day, Just didn't expect it this soon, nor this suddenly (heart attack). I will be seeing some people tomorrow that I haven't really seen since the funeral and I know they will ask how I am doing, so I was giving that some thought today. I think the day to day stuff is reasonably under control. The house and yard, while not perfect, are in order. I'm back to my normal weight and am eating as well as I ever would eat on my own, I don't work in the summer, but expect all will be fine when things resume in September. I am socializing, etc. Essentially, it would look like I am mostly back to normal to the outside world. But on the inside, I am broken and alone/lonely. I still have many "big" things to deal with. I can so relate to your comment about resenting every step of this - none of us wanted this life. I'm doing it, but no real joy in any of it. At times, I feel like I should be further along at this stage in time; others I recognize that it is still, very much, early days and things will happen in their own time when I am ready....whenever that may be.

I am so sorry for all that your son is having to bear and the extra worry that places on you. I think that is such a difficult time of life to experience loss. Life is supposed to be full of fun and opportunity for the future. Wondering if he would benefit from counselling if he was willing to go. That is just a lot for one person to bear.

So sorry for you and your son. Sounds like he would benefit from therapy of he's willing. That's so much loss and grief to deal with. You will be dealing with your own grief and hopefully can find a grief support group and/or therapist yourself. I was helped by therapy and medication after my first wife died from cancer. It was unbelievably hard but you will get through it. Vent your feelings however works in a healthy way for you.

This is really an incredible amount of tragedy in such a short amount of time. I'm so sorry. It sounds like you are making great strides in learning how to live this life without your husband. I'm sure that helps your son as well. I truly hope you can continue to adjust to this new reality and that you and your son can both find some peace after such tragic loss. Do you think your son would be willing to look into counseling? I have found counseling to be incredibly helpful.

I can so relate to your struggle.. My husband age 54 passed away 12/22/15 so 3 days before Christmas. I have 3 teens as well. I'm struggling trying to help them and dealing with being the only parent. I am only 48 and never in a million years dreamed I would be a widow. Just typing that word is hard! My nephew age 24 and his fiancé at 19 were killed in auto accident 8 days after my hubby. My nephew was actually a pallbearer in my husband's funeral. Life is like a vapor no one is promised another breath much less another day. Praying you will find comfort in knowing others care.
