Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
In that none of us knew how to feel, what to do, how to interpret the events that have consumed us, it is good to have a united group of people who have experienced the worst tragedy a person can endure, the loss of our spouses. We naturally feel so alone when we experience the loss because our constant companions, our most trusted soulmates are no longer with us. It seems everyone around us has their spouses but us. We experience agony, thoughts we have never had before, anger, fear, confusion, pain of every kind. We don't understand why it had to happen. We experience many, many times of total breakdown in grief. No one understands who hasn't been through this. This group is a group that has cried, supported, and lifted up each of us during our most humbling moments of grief and despair. I'm very glad you found this place. The people here are caring, non-judgemental people who know the same pain you do. We are here to comfort and share each others battles in the road to recovery. Come here often and share whatever is on your heart. We are ready to listen. We know how it feels to you right now. I offer my sincere sympathy to you in the loss of your husband.

Losing a husband is so much more than we realize. We often feel the loss of ourself. The empty house, the silence, the loneliness all surround us. We lost our future plans. Right now just breathe and let your emotions escape through tears or anger. Be kind to yourself and try to get through each moment as they come. Hugs to you. Sharon
I'm just having the hardest time doing anything. On workdays, I can get up and go to work and I'm fine. Other days I just can't get motivated to get up and do anymore than I have to. I watch way too much tv, if it wasn't for my dog I just probably wouldn't get out of bed. But thank goodness she's here, gives me a reason to get up and to come home after work.
I was Roby's caretaker for the last year, he was pretty much bedridden for the last few monhs of his life. I was so busy with him and work and then all of the sudden a huge part of my life just came to an end. I was lost, didn't know what to do with my time, I did pretty good at staying busy at first but now I just want to sit.

I am sorry for your loss. Sometimes just sitting is what you have to do. I lost my husband 6 months ago, and I understand what your going through. The people here are great. You will find support here. And I understand just wanting to sit and do nothing. At times I still feel frozen. I am trusting that what others say is true. Things get different. You learn a new way of living. I am holding on to those thoughts now.
My sweet love dies 4/5/13. It is all pretty new to me too. He died from cancer and was 56. I don't understand why they had to be taken from us so young. It is basically just one day at a time right now. I am so glad to meet you...
Sorry for your loss. Yes, I'm in the boat with you.
My husband passed Jan.29, 2013...he was 68, but still too young. I feel "stuck" in cement.
You all have my sincere condolences, it's sad that we all have to be here but I'm glad I found you.
I belong to some caregiver groups but I'm not a caregiver anymore.
