I lost my wonderful husband Dave officially three months ago on September 30th. His birthday was yesterday, October 6th. I didn't know how I was going to feel yesterday. He would've been only 60 years old. I would've teased him and called him an old man! How absurd is that? 60 years old. I wonder if I would have thrown a party for him. I should have thrown a party for him. After all, it's a landmark birthday. Still, I really don't know if I would have. He would have been doing chemotherapy again and my mind may have been elsewhere. I've learned that dealing with a loved one's illness distracts you from things that you should hold dear, like celebrating life. He was in the hospital on June 21st, our wedding anniversary, and only had nine days to live, although I didn't know it at the time. I tried to make it special that day, but did I make it special the previous year? I don't think I did. I wish now that I would have. Dave and I didn't make a big deal out of birthdays, like some couples do. Maybe we should have. Now, I have no more birthdays to celebrate and I look back on all the missed opportunities that I had to celebrate life that I didn't take. I hope that is a lesson learned and something that I won't repeat ever again. Anyway, yesterday wasn't as hard as I thought it might be, possibly because we didn't make a big deal out of birthdays. Still, I woke up and talked to him and tonight when I got home from work I had a drink and raised a toast to him, just as I would have done had he been standing next to me. I think he would've liked that. I guess my message to everyone out there trying to heal is to celebrate life, even when it hurts to breathe. Our lives do go on and every moment is precious. To the beautiful spirit who left my life, "High five, Caveman!" -- <3 Anita

As Frankie sang....Regrets I've had a few. But than again too few to mention....
And Scottie, I am the same way now. I am very conscious of the moment and value people's lives and my interactions with them more.
Like I read somewhere, no one when they're on their deathbed thinks something like, "I wish I would have spent more time at the office."
I wonder if you’ll ever see this post.
