I was going to ask you about your new grandbaby since I've been seeing the picture with the two babies. I know you loved having them. The house seems so alive when all the family is there. And then, when they leave, it is so very quiet. Try to enjoy the memories by sitting quietly in a comfortable place and allow your mind to go back and remember all the little details of their visit that made you happy. Let the memories flood your mind and soul. Maybe write about it just for yourself. Also, write about how you were a great grandma to your son, DIL, and babies. Write all the things you provided and did for them. This will help your feelings about yourself, too. You are vital to the family. Never doubt that! Thanks for sharing your story with us!

Your grand babies are adorable! I know silence is hard. I have 2 young boys but at night when I'm alone and its quite I cry the most missing my hubby. So sorry you hurting. Come here often, everyone is here for you. It's like my 2nd family. Sending a big hug your way!

Such a letdown after everyone leaves - wait! let me qualify that: only if they are GOOD company. :)

I find, though, that I'm learning to revel in the quiet of my home. I, of course, would rather have Darrell here with me, but it IS rather nice to sit back on the couch - no TV, no computer - close my eyes and listen to the silence. It's peaceful for me. Darrell, of course, IS here with me and it's at such times that I feel his presence the most.

I like New Roads' idea of thinking about your visit and visitors and going over the good memories. It will at least bring a smile to your face, among the tears.

I am new to this group, any grief group actually. I am so sorry to hear your pain. I truly feel for your loss, 15 months after my husband's death, and I still feel longingly for him. While I still have my daughters 20 and 25 and my grand-baby girl 6 living with me, I feel the emptiness when they are out. They always hesitate to leave still, even after all this time, needing to making sure I am ok. I constantly need to assure them that I am fine, and happy they are living a good life, as they should. Not sure what I'll feel the day they feel strong enough to carry on their lives, (again, as they very well should) and live on their own. It's not possible for that quite yet. Grand-baby's father is horrendous and doesn't know or appreciate two wonderful young ladies he has been blessed with. My husband was a wonderful father to all 3 of them. Sadly my grand-daughter also lost her father/father figure when she lost her "Gampa". Stay strong, as I'm sure most of us here have been. God's blessing to you as you continue to heal.

I love having the children come with the grandchildren, but I must agree with Terry I also enjoy when they go home. I appreciate the silence in my home, but I wasn't always that way. Don and I were always on the go or had drop-in guests and loved it. After his death though I learned to like the tranquility of silence. Sharon

The silence is the hardest thing for me right now. I am fortunate that my son lives nearby and my oldest grandaughter stays with me every other weekend. I really miss coming home from work and having her tell me about her day.

Am used to the silence.................or music, or tv...............but just can't seem to get used to the absense of mjy love...................your family is blessed to have a caring grandma......................am sure they miss you too.........

thank you all for your comments I just back on internet at friends...we have had some fires near us - and I have been busy helping those move away to safer areas....100 fires in wa most in eastern portions I have lots of smoke but no fires near me...but I am taking care of animals 11 others at my place (horses and 2 goats which they worry me due to cougars in my area so far so good...
But update on grandbaby Dylan ---ride home cried 1/2 of the way which was so good here...next day same thing...I figured he missed me...but ear infection set in....but hes ok now..
