WIDOWS AND WIDOWERS OF FAITH Community Group
A place where people of faith may freely discuss issues of grief from a faith based perspective.
I have watched this week the inauguration of Donald trump as many of us have. The question that comes to my mind is who is in charge. Trump,Putin, Merkel, some other famous or wealthy person. We all know here the answer is none of the above it is God.
In attempting to surrender my life to God world events around me become alot less meaningful or more like noise that distracts me from what is really important which is nuturing my faith and most importantly my soul. So many people spends hours on special diets and exercises and yet forget their souls. Our bodies will eventually grow weary but our souls have the opportunity to flourish if we chose to make the right choices. In grief we often ask what is our purpose now. Part of the answer is nourishing our souls. The clearest way to do that is to love others the way Jesus desperately wants to love us.
By keeping my focus on God and recognizing he is in charge it gives me far more peace that believing any of our leaders now are the ones ultimately in charge. Knowing the person in charge loves me unconditionally makes me feel very special and we are all special and loved by him. When we are overwhelmed in grief God will comfort us if we let him. I speak from personal expereince. Dont ever let the distractions of the world let you lose focus on who is really in charge and loves us.

Today I feel grateful. Grateful for my dog Blue (Blue Jean Baby Queen, Prettiest girl I've ever seen). Grateful I'm still kickin'. Grateful I'm finally taking responsibility for my health. Grateful I own my home. Grateful for good friends and neighbors who watch over me. Grateful to God for His everlasting love and patience with me. Grateful I survived the 10 years since my wife of 30 years...

Thanks for putting this message out there - honestly, this is exactly where my head (heart and soul) are at as well. It doesn't matter what's going on in the world - God is still on the throne! And, Jesus is still our Lord and Savior! Like you, I take great comfort from this belief. My faith is one of the things I like best about myself and my life. Although my spouse has gone to be with God, I am still here and still graced by the almighty. I cannot even imagine going through the very painful grief process without my faith and knowing that God loves me and is right here for me. God Bless and Keep You!
For me the only comfort I get is knowing He is the one controlling things. I dont put my belief in any man. People can let you down God doesnt.
His word tells us to focus on things of above and not things of this world. And for us to be anxious for nothing but to know He is our God.
Peace. Tim
