My brother is so addicted to this game, and until now, we all thought it was just causing social problems. We were wrong.
Wednesday night, he had been up for more than 2 days without sleep, playing WOW. He also barely ate anything at all. Around 9pm Wednesday evening, he stoop up from his computer chair, and passed out, smashing his head on the corner of his computer desk, breaking his thumb, and dislocating his right shoulder. He doesn't remember anything except standing up and then waking up on the floor. An ambulance took him to the hospital, and he was under anesthesia to have his shoulder put back into the socket. His thumb was put into a splint, and he has a huge (I mean, a few inches) gash on his forehead.
What scares me is that he lives alone, and it coud have been ALOT worse. He could have had more serious injuries from hitting his head like that, and no one would have known.
My husband is going to talk to him this week to try to get him to see how bad this is getting. Hopefully, he can get through to him.

I wish you luck. I don't think I would be able to stay up that long if I tried my best. I play WOW a lot but I have cut back some lately and am slowly spending less and less time on WOW. You know what is funny, they show tips on the screen like useful in game shortcuts for commands. One of them is "Take all things in moderation even World of Warcraft" another is "Bring your friends to Azeroth but go outside with them as well". I don't thing all of the people who see these things get the hint about it. The game is very addictive as it is kind of like real life with the exception you can make yourself into a super person who can never truely die and can conquer the world and be very respected by your peers. This is part of what a lot of people play this game for. He needs some other interests outside of WOW but it won't be easy to get to him. Believe me but if you try to keep on him a little every day you may get to him. I wish you and your husband the best of luck, I wish I could give you a cure all for it but it doesn't exist.
