Do you trust the site?

Pavlova: I did walk away but only after the P told me that she was pregnant by another man (we never met in person, so it couldn't have been me!) with whom she did not have intercourse. OK. I was pretty brainwashed at the time, but that was just too much accept. Plus, the next day I was traveling on a plane and free from her constant texting and calling. I think that was a tactic. Being out of communication allowed me to think straight enough to reject the "immaculate conception" claim and to at least be willing to believe that there were other lies. However when, with the help of the background check sites and Google image search, I learned the magnitude of the lies, I was shocked and devastated.

I'm not sure if either of those sites work outside the U.S. They do renew automatically, which is a pain. They also charge extra for things like criminal background checks. But the information that I got from them was priceless.

If your ex has had any involvement with the Federal Court system in the U.S. (including bankruptcy filings), that is available through a government site called PACER. You can search those records a la carte for a nominal fee.

I do trust those sites. The information is consistent with what I've been able to dig up elsewhere. And the two paid sites were consistent with one another. In this case, the P had been in bankruptcy twice recently, so I got a ton of information from PACER.

Thanks Avram. What I meant is if the site only gives reports on persons living in America. It seems that is the case. The monster lived in America for a year or two so there is a report on him.I am thinking about going ahead with it. The site had a message at the top when the report was ready and I got to the page where you put in your credit card info which said "Warning: the content of this report is graphic"? Did you notice this message when you were on it? I think it may be a tactic to get you to buy the report, meaning, that the report isn't more graphic than anybody elses's.

Well,more power to you. It is still good that you were able to leave her.

The "graphic content" warning just seems like a way to grab your attention. There was nothing graphic in the sense that most people use that word. For me, it was helpful to get her true name, age, information about bankruptcy and her relatives. Interestingly, all of the relatives were characters in the story she told me, but most had different parts assigned to them -- e.g., she identified her youngest daughter as the nanny of her child (actually her grandchild, I've come to learn).

I believe that these sites only provide information on people who are living or have lived in the US.

There is an extra fee for a criminal record check.
