Is he or she a sociopath or psychopath? Think we're only talking about serial killers here? Psychopaths, sociopaths and even narcissists come in every walk of life, every career level, and every socio-economic category.
As I said, part of the definition of a pathological is someone whose lies have no obvious purpose, with nothing to gain from it. These lies also tend to span long periods of time, like months or years.
How do they make it all seem so real and authentic?
i think the way they make it so real and authentic is in their own minds they really need the world to believe it so in some way it maybe become a reality to them????? gosh aspin i dont know how to answer that one very well i end up with more questions of my own. what a mind f*** these people are and no wonder we are left with a million questions of what just happened to us. i know they talk in circles a lot so to confuse us even more. i dont know how they do it, i really dont. i cant imagine trying to remember so many lies and keep them straight.
I know, I know, the whole "mind F---" thing. My mind will always be F--- by it, I fear. I was doing so good recently, but as of late, this stuff is bothering me again. "What happened, what was her deal, why?", things like that.
I guess I'm haunted by the possibility that I was just wrong about the person...I don't see how I could be, though.
hang in there aspen theres apart of me that will forever be haunted as to the whys of this whole thing, but with time its not as often as used to be . but ive pretty much made my mind up mine is truly a soc. as much as i want him not to be there is no other logical explanation. dont ever doubt yourself.
I think the animal torture thing seems to be identified more in childhood (as stated above).
If one of the traits does not fit your psycho of choice, but all others seem to point in thhe 'disordered' direction. I'd tend to go with the majority, instead of focusing on the one that doesn't seem to fit! (thats cognitive dissonance and self denial at work.)
I think Hitler wasn't so much a psychopath or sociopath as he was an out of control psychotic. Then again, according to some views, the instances of his life could ahve been sufficient enough to "make him into" a sociopath. Don;t you just love sciences that pretend to be objective but are actually more subjective than religion? lol.
That's definitely my problem. I constantly doubt myself. Even though I say I don;t like the person, it could be possible that I'm still in love with what I "thought" she was. That probably plays into it. Would I be correct in assuming that its common to not know why you can't forget about people like this?
I don't know if this person is truly a sociopath or psychopath, or simply exhibits many or some of the traits. I know they like to subtly brag that they are, and have sometimes admitted to being manipulative and more or less admitting to liking to screw with people, but I don't know the true nature of why.
Either way,I believe the person is close enough to a P or S to be discussed here, and , as I recall saying before, I really didn't know where else to go. I couldn't seem to find support groups for people who were hurt by HPDs, BPDs, NPDs, Bipolars, or "qasi-psychopaths" or even "pseudo psychopaths".
but i think people who are capable of pre thinking a huge plan with details, organizing people and steps to accomplish the thing at their own will are not psychotic, they are probably psychopath or evil. if they have the idea and do things at their own will with the end result of their plan being what their intention is.
im not sure but i think of psychotic criminals as a drunk driver who runs over the person.
and a psychopath who writes on his calendar that he will get in his car on tuesday and run over the person at 4pm, then collect the persons life insurance money etc
