Victims of Psychopaths Community Group
Is he or she a sociopath or psychopath? Think we're only talking about serial killers here? Psychopaths, sociopaths and even narcissists come in every walk of life, every career level, and every socio-economic category.
My own catfish claimed to have been hospitalized for a "few weeks"after I caught on to her and cut off communications. In a brief exchange that she initiated a couple of weeks ago, I insisted that she take responsibility for her lies and started naming them. She initially tried to change the subject then, when I wouldn't stop talking about the lies, she asked to terminate the conversation. I haven't heard from her since. Good riddance!
Here is an example I recall. I read to him a passage from my book about our relationship. In the passage, I was trying to get him to notice that he made fun of me for not knowing as much about music as he did, and that he ridiculed my gifts--for spiritual perception and writing. When had I pointed this out, he had responded, "Change the subject." And then "Cut me some slack, Princess." And then he had told me to go down the street to local dive bar and pick up a man. He had said, "It's not 2 o'clock yet. The bar is still open."
I finished reading the passage and asked, "Do you see how you treated me?"
He answered. "Wasn't I right that the bar was still open? It wasn't yet 2 o'clock."
I also noticed his style of writing was identical to the OW, who I had prior correspondence with regarding work, plus she had been a FB friend until I unfriended her. As soon as I read his message and profile, I knew it was HER pretending to be a HE.
At first, it really made me mad, but then it struck me as funny! I laughed and decided to give him/ her a message response. In my response message, I told him I was sorry, but I couldn't accept his friend request because I feared it might seem disrespectful to my darling husband. I treasured and respected my husband and never accepted friend requests from men I didn't know. I wished him success in finding his soulmate. It turned my stomach to write such sweet words of my NH. But I wanted to see if my gut instincts were right.
A few hours later, I checked the OW's FB page which had her posts "public", so I could read her posts even though we were no longer FB friends. Sure enough, her posts were about being heartbroken and sad. Well, I bet she was sad.....that she couldn't manipulate me. It made me realize we should always trust our instincts.
At this point, the catfish herself told me that she had become pregnant with twins as a result of some activity with the supposed military guy that did NOT include intercourse. I may be stupid, gullible and overly trusting, but I do know basic biology! That was the final straw. Thankfully, I was able to end things at that point and cut off almost all communications. But even though our involvement only lasted three months, it left deep scars and caused me to question myself in my ways.
Weird, though, that she essentially used the fake suitor to create the conditions under which I would be likely to end the relationship.
In my opinion, they purposely look for people who are compassionate and have a tendency to be passive rather than assertive (at least when it's a man looking for a female victim) and then they proceed to drain every bit of happiness and joy out of our lives.
It does seem that the predators put us through a screening process. Mine even tested me with improbable stories to see how gullible I was. I passed her tests with flying colors, because I fell for it all...at least for a while.
I hope you have respite from this scumbag. There are good people on the Internet...and many on this forum.
I hope we all get respite!! I have faith that there are more good people than bad in the world :)
