Victims of Psychopaths Community Group
Is he or she a sociopath or psychopath? Think we're only talking about serial killers here? Psychopaths, sociopaths and even narcissists come in every walk of life, every career level, and every socio-economic category.
So...I posted some of my story awhile ago about my ex-partner sociopath who burnt my house down.
She is being charged with Arson 1 ( I was in the house when it happen).
We went to grand jury back in Sept just 6 days after she was arrested, but the grand jury wanted more information from the detectives. They are now reconvening in 10 days and I again have to testify. Last time it was an hour and a half on the stand. And I have to do it all again. If they indict, she will be arrested again and put in jail. If they don't indict, she walks and cannot be charged again. I'm nervous obviously and trying to 'safety plan' around which ever way they decide.
We were together when the fire happened and it was only after her arrest and the detectives telling me all the lies about her that I started researching sociopathy...and this site is where I got almost all of the information.
Thank you to whomever created this forum. I am thankful to you because now knowing what she is about is helping me conceptualize what happened and has been very helpful in the healing process.
I have experienced some 'cognitive dissonance' recently and trying to ready myself to be in a clear state of mind about who she really is.
Any helpful tips for testifying would be welcomed as I'm sure there are some of you who have had to face your sociopath/psychopath in the justice system.

One of my psychos was convicted of arson (arson is actually a common crime of a psychopath, along with fraud) but only got a slap on the wrist, a couple weeks in jail. The psychopaths I've dealt with have all had their lives come crashing down. They don't get away with it forever. It does eventually catch up to them. Try to get some solace in that.
Take comfort if you can in what Agent Smith said. Sometimes bad deeds do come back on a person in the long run.
We expect Life to be fair, but it never seems to be.

There is so much to say and yet nothing really. I'm so tired of the energy spent on her, that my fingers don't even want to type this. No matter what I say or do, it would change anything. Except I do believe in the power of individuals with common experiences talking things through for support and helping people new to the antics of a psychopath understand what they are up against.
I have more I want to write, but my son just got her, so I'll be back later!! :)
