I just wanted to give you support in what you are going through.
I have not been in court over my Sociopath yet but may have to in the next year or so because he is going to court over rape with a knife in which was verified by a DNA test twice. So I do know how dangerous they are and how deceptive they can be,
This site has also helped me to understand the seriousness of Sociopaths and answered a lot of questions I have had in my mind about "was that really going on or am I just crazy thinking".
Another thing really helping is my FREE therapy once a week for 4 months! Any woman or man that is abused is offered free therapy counseling. I have to make myself go but it is helping slowly.

I remember you from before, firelit. I'm glad that she is having to face the legal system, and hope it does it's job. I have had a conviction against one of my sociopaths, for stalking, but they did not make me go to court. He pled guilty, once I let everyone in on the fact that he was a registered sex offender. I've been to court for other things, but nothing like what you're dealing with. I don't know what kind of advice to give other than to just try to stay calm. Hope she gets the book thrown at her.

Wow firelit, you have survived a great deal. I did not have to go to court with my ex P but I was tied up the legal system for many months. I sat in on meetings, was pulled from my job on a couple of occasions to give legal statements, I helped the Federal Police find the SOB when he went into hiding, and wrote many letters to judges assigned to his case. After they caught him in an arranged sting and he sat in Federal prison for many months they called me into the police department once again to video record my testimony, they had assured me that I would not have to do a face to face in court with him. He was sitting in Federal prison awaiting deportation and the time clock was ticking on when the state could pull him back into state custody and charge him with his crimes. When I got to the police department on that day, there was a whole team of officers waiting for me including the DA. They informed me that he was fighting the charges and that I would in fact need to testify as well as my 13 year old niece. I had a breakdown right there in the meeting. I could not even breathe. The choices were that I would go to court and face to face him with one charge being rape. The police were honest with me, told me that his attorneys would tear me apart, make everything to be about a vindictive lover. This could last for 1-2 years of legal crap. If convicted he would go to jail for a couple years and then be deported. Or I could let the Federal police deport him with a criminal record. And try to resume my life as best I could. After weighing my choices very carefully, and talking with a very understanding officer who laid it all out for me, I decided not to go through with it. I let the Feds deport him. That is what would have happened anyway. I hate that he got away with everything but I could not sacrifice myself or my family anymore just to have him walk or have the same outcome anyway. I have some friends on the police force. They straight up told me that the criminal justice system is set up to protect the bad guys not the innocent victims. I didn't tell you this to make you nervous but to point out that people like this are very in the way of bad karma. You cannot dance with the devil forever and not have consequences. I know my ex P will end up dead at some point and I will smile about that. I think if you have a chance of putting your scum behind bars and you feel well enough to handle this then you should do it! Your ex cannot be deported, I think you owe it to yourself to do this. She will meet up with karma and hopefully she will be removed from Earth as well so you can breathe fresh. I am so sorry this is your life right now.

Live...thank you for sharing your story. I think I would do the same as you in your situation. I'm hoping in my case that she is indicted, arrested, put in jail, and then accepts a plea deal (which would still be years) and that I don't have to go to trial. I also have severe mental illness (PTSD, DID, depression, insomnia) for which I am on disability and a trial would only exacerbate all this. I know I can be strong, but my fear is the defense attorney would put me through hell...esp. since she knows how to trigger me in every way and would guide her lawyer on how to manipulate me. Who knows...I'm just hoping it doesn't go there and she still is incarcerated.

I testify in one week. I'll keep you all posted on the outcome. ThanX for all your support.

Hi, firelit, we have not "met" yet on here.

I did not have to go to court for a criminal trial, though I did have a 5 day divorce trial, after days of hearings. And I did have an Order of Protection (RO) hearing.

I would say with stress or PTSD or just the trauma you went through, try to be and come across as calm and reasonable. Your credibility vs his is on trial. As they stay calm, we need to.

My expensive lawyers directed me to answer the questions briefly, often with yes or no answers, not to go on and on or ramble. So, maybe that will help you.

NOT indicted. f'n amazing. I can hardly think right now. She now will never suffer the legal consequences of burning my house down. Even the arson detective was shaking and shed tears....he worked his ass off along with the police detective And all the DA could say was that unless someone actually saw her LIGHT it, circumstantial evidence would not be enough. Apparently, arson is the hardest crime to convict. A witness there even testified that she said she could get away with arson!...and she fuckin' did.

This is my first post here...as i've read this and am very sorry that justice wasn't served to you properly in this.

But you tried! Despite the discomfort, you saw your fight through 'till the end, and that is something to be very proud of.

Be careful! These folk don't give up on the idea of 'revenge' easily!
