Victims of Psychopaths Community Group
Is he or she a sociopath or psychopath? Think we're only talking about serial killers here? Psychopaths, sociopaths and even narcissists come in every walk of life, every career level, and every socio-economic category.
I'm so sorry to hear from your post above that you have been going through such hard times. That would be enough to panic anyone and have their heart race. Don't worry about your heart. It is probably strong, just metaphorically hurt. Do you know Bernie Seigal MD (sp?) says we get physical ailments that mimic things that happened to us in our life? Broken heart --> tachycardia maybe?
I also have panic attacks or anxiety attacks, sometimes with tachycardia or heart arhythmias. I'm pretty sure I have complex PTSD, and I know have adrenal exhaustion (tests show it) from all the years of stress with my XH.
What I find helpful is to try not to think too much about anything at all challenging in the morning for the first two hours after you get up, or however long it takes you to really get going. Wait until your body is strong and awake. Everything seems easier in the light of day, after food, and when you're feeling stronger.
I also find the same problem late at night, as I get tired. So, again, I give myself permission (order myself sometimes!) to not think about any stresses, problems, or worries. I try a variety of relaxation techniques including visualizing something relaxing, reading escapist books until I fall asleep, taking a warm bath, watching light TV (not news or scary movies). It doesn't always work, but if usually does.
Also, taking rhodiola, magnesium, omega 3 EFAs can all help relax you, any time of day, but I find taking the rhodiola in the morning and the others before bed (with food/snack) works well. A light snack helps sleep too. If you still can't get to sleep, consider 5-HT (or is it HPT, I forget), herbal sleep aids and/or low dose melatonin.
If things don't get better after a while (months), it may be helpful to get your hormones tested. Getting my hormones fixed really, really helped reduce my anxiety and clear and strengthen my mind, after years of high stress, exhaustion, and brain fog. This is not something we generally told, and not by psychologists as far as I know or experienced. Hormones to test might include cortisol, DHEA, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone (yes, even for women), and thyroid hormones (T3, T4, free, antibodies). A good naturopathic doctor can help with this.
I really hope you feel better!
