HUD and VA announce $75 million for HUD-VASH program
to provide rental housing and support for homeless veterans

"It is simply unacceptable for individuals, children, families, and our nation's veterans to be faced with homelessness in this country," said President Obama.

"I am confident that the Interagency Council on Homelessness, under Secretary Donovan's leadership, will have a renewed focus on coordinating efforts across federal agencies and working closely with our state, local, community-based, and faith-based partners to address these serious issues."

This always seems to disappear between the 5'oclock news and the homeless vets. I always pray it's true but after Obie wanted wounded warriors to pay for their own medical treatments I remain skeptical of any bones they may toss

Govt.'s been talking about this since after the Vietnam War!?!
Yet homeless vets population has increased every year!
5-10 more years it will be double what it is now!

And when is this $75 million coming available to help these homeless vets? Has yet to happen in this state and with winter coming in a few months my heart goes out to them. We have a VA Home and Hospital in Rocky Hill, CT but they can only house so many vets. Usually about 450-500 vets. And there is always a waiting list of up to 1 year to get a bed. That money would come in very handy for the VA to build more Homes like the one in Rocky Hill. It cost each Vet between $200-$400 a month depending on how long the have been there. But if they do not have income other than their detail money (not much) they do not pay until they can. Usual stay is 2 years but there are guys who have been there 10, 15, even 20 years. Our vets need help and the government abandons them, just like they did in Vietnam.

It should be illegal to utter those two words "homeless" and "veteran" in the same sentence. It should never be allowed to happen.

funny thing is, if there ever is anything good for the vets, you have to find it out your self, cuz the govt will never TELL you! you have to ask all the questions and look it up your self!! know what i mean? they won't just "volunteer" the info, especially not someone like Obama's admin. he's straight up CROOKED! besides, if there is anything positive that ever comes out of his mouth, it's something he knows you want to hear, but him actually doing it is a whole other story!
