"What about the insects/deer/animals that die when you harvest/eat their food?"
Because actually eating them must be better than eating their food, by that point of view. and then of course, there are the people that insist Jell-O is not an animal product. and the people who try to pay me money to see me eat a hamburger. gross.
"How much would I have to pay you to watch you eat a hamburger?"
"But we were made to eat meat! See these incisors?" (yeah but we're not cavemen anymore we don't need to hunt for food.)
"Fish don't have feelings though. See? Look at their eyes! No signs of life!" (Just stared openmouthed at that gem.)
"Just eat meat today and you can go back to being a vegetarian tomorrow!"
And eating Chicken is good for you - and I say - its not good for the chicken!
Or do you like crabs and shrimp? and I say - yes I do like them very much, and that is why I do not eat them.
If people really liked cows then they would not butcher the animal, duh. They do not like the animals as they only like eating the animals.
I always get the comment on eating chicken and fish. I can understand the fish thing (for those that are misinformed), but I'm just baffled at the assumption that if you're veg, you can still eat chicken! Last I checked....chickens are animals and they're full of meat!
I get the whole "What do you eat"
and I've gotten asked about animal crackers
and the whole "what if...."
my favorite what if was "if someone told you that they would kill you if you didn't eat the cow, would you eat it?" and they always seem shocked when I say "no I would rather die standing for what i believe in than living with the guilt the rest of my life"
my meat eating son (32) told me some new terminologies.
Like I had a Lady friend that claimed to be a vegetarian except she ate fish so my son called her a fish-eterian.
And since I am stuck on cheese so I became a cheese-etarian.
And Lacto-ovo just means milk and eggs.
But I would surely resist calling anyone by the term of "omnivore" even if it is more correct or accurate.
