It should be a real eye opener. It would be great if it finally ended up on regular broadcast tv, but that's a pipe dream! The networks would be threatened with the removal of so many of the food commercials, they would cave in to the pressure. Maybe PBS television? We can hope!
What I don't get is the people that defend the slaughterhouse workers. If they don't want to get hurt by animals fighting for their lives then they shouldn't be trying to kill them - duh!
Goats I also kept because they "forage" eating the leafy weeds the horses don't, as horses are grazers. But goats are a pain in the ass, so I traded mine for a case of beer to someone who wanted his kid to breed them. The other escaped and was killed by coyotes. I thought about raising cattle, but never got around to it. You sell them to a slaughter house so you don't have the killing on your hands, so to speak, even though the net result is the same.
If I stay on this farm, I intend to raise rare "specialty animals", Icelandic sheep and Scottish highlander cattle, that are too expensive to slaughter, and are sold for breeding purposes. That way you are preserving the species, without the guilt...
