why is it that medical personal have issues with young adults from the age25-50 needing to wear diapers 24/7? i had somewhat of an issues at our urgent care center. i went there i wasn't feeling well, the nurse ask me about my medical history and i told her it. i also told nurse that i wear diapers because i have a bladder problem. the nurse said ok and why do you have a bladder problem? i told her that i don't know why, but my urologists told me it was due to a small bladder. the nurse said you are too young to be in diapers and that there other treatments out there. i said to the nurse i tried most meds/treatments witch have little to no effect on me. i also told nurse diapers work for so don't judge me for what works for. the nurse said she was sorry and didn't me hurt my feelings. it like i said above why is it so hard for medical personal to deal with incontinence in young people who have to wear diapers all the time?

In 2013 I had an accident resulting in spinal injury at the base of my neck with paralysis from there down, spasticity (muscle contractions and spasms) and double incontinence. Both my anus and my urethra have been left closed except with manual intervention. I hardly ever pass urine via the usual route (I have a suprapubic catheter passing directly into my bladder about 2 inches below my...

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
I suppose that they are used to seeing CP kids, teens and even adults who need nappies, so they aren't surprised by it. I also have weekly physiotherapy sessions, so the physiotherapist lady also sees me in my nappy and doesn't think anything about it as she sees quite a few CP kids and teens, some of whom need nappies.
Doctor wants to try the Instrimin on me. I don't really want it since it can cause problems. If it works then he would have it put inside my body and the battery would have to be changed every 5 years. I am on blood thinners and don't want to have surgery. I keep thinking there has to be a pill out there somewhere that will work without surgery. I am thinking about changing my doctor.
I think if this happens, I might question what type of underwear they are wearing and then tell them they are to young or old for that type they should get something made for their age, lol.
Like I noted in my post earlier, I am grateful that through all the things that I have gone through that majority of the medical staff was very understanding and supportive.
There was one time when I was in the emergency room and the doctor request urine sample. The only way to get a urine sample from me is either cath me and or put something down there and wait till my bladder lets lose. Well the nurse taking care of me, I could tell didn't want to cath me and because of that my stay in the ER was extended for about 3 plus hours. It took my wife asking them what were we waiting on before the doctor made the nurse cath me to get the sample.
I have a medical note/list I keep in my wallet with all the medical information that would be needed and I have listed my bladder incontinence and that I use adult diapers to control it. I always give any medical place I go a copy of this to help keep my records straight.
