This is my forst post here, but I was wondering of anyone had experienced incontinence caused by constipation? Living woth this condition my whole life, today was the first day doctors found i was constipated and explained how that can cause incontinence. Tomorrow I have to try an oral laxative and I am super scared because I have never done anything like that before. I have to take magnesium citrate which completley empties the bowels and can cause nasea and vomitting. I am very afraid what may happen to me so if anyone has used magnesium citrate before, let me know what happened. Also, I wsa wondering if anyone else had incontinence that was related to constipation. I really hope I have lost most of my hope in a cure. Thanks for your time and best of luck!!

Unfortunately my bedwetting and incontinence are not caused by constipation but I have read a post on here that someone’s children had problems and once cleared of constipation so their bedwetting ended.
I found the post and hopefully put a link to it at the bottom, but if the link doesn’t work it’s in the ‘Bedwetting’ support group and the post is titled ‘When will it end’.

From my personal experience I feel that I pee more often when my bowel is full because I thought it put pressure on my bladder. But not sure as I do not have much control over bladder nor bowel anyway.
I'm not a doctor, but I know something about plumbing. As alluded to above, a full colon, which is immediately behind (underneath) the urinary tract, is expanded and does put pressure on urinary plumbing. Even with good colon efficiency, you'll notice more urge incontinence if you haven't had a good bowel movement in 2-3 days. Keep getting plenty of fiber in the diet...or keep Metamucil handy.
