Urinary Incontinence Support Group
Urinary incontinence is the involuntary excretion of urine from one's body. It is often temporary, and it almost always results from an underlying medical condition. Stress, functional, and urge incontinence are the most common forms. Share with other support group members and learn from their stories and experiences.
With a lot of us here, though, there's not always a complete solution - just a better way to manage the problem and get back to a life where worrying about urinary function isn't at the top of the list all day and night.
For myself, it's been catheters 24/7 for almost 3 years, with only slight breaks. After the first couple of uses, they're really pretty easy to work with. Once you've found the right size (size does make a difference in how comfortable they are) you really, truly don't know it's there working for you - and insertions and removals become easy.
XX400ex's comments are right on target - keep lots of fluids going through you while on a cath, drink cranberry juice (or take a cranberry/vitamin C supplement), and keep things nice & clean, and you'll do just fine.
One of the most common things that causes urinary problems in us older guys is prostate enlargement. Can be a number of things - just plain age, BPH, or possibly something more significant. Whatever it is, it's good to get it resolved now.
Best of luck to you sir - message me if you'd like.
