I got laid off a little over 2 months ago after the business I worked for closed down. I lost my place and had to move in with my mom. I'm grateful I'm not homeless but this living situation is really difficult. When I was a kid my mom said she wished I was never born. She threw all of my childhood pics in the trash.
I can't find work for the life of me. I just saw a post on here about resentment. I've got a lot of that myself. I've always had problems with self esteem but working always kept me level headed. I absolutely need structure. Luckily I have a career I really enjoy but there just aren't many opportunities. I've sent countless resumes down the 'resume hole' and heard nothing. For the majority of these jobs I've met or exceeded the stated requirements. Who are these people hiring? I think quite a few job listings are fake, especially on craigslist.
Luckily my job is in demand in other parts of the world. I'm throwing in the towel and expatriating. I never thought I would have to leave my own country to find work but this is my current reality. Even when I was working I could never get ahead and pretty much just treaded water financially, one mishap away from destitution. I'm 42, never been married, no kids, and come from a broken, totally fragmented family. There have been no family holidays, birthdays, etc for years. Concerning family, it's just me against the world. I have some good friends but it's not the same. That being said, I really have nothing to lose. My time at my mom's is limited and if I can't find anything soon I will be living on the streets.
That being said, my stomach is in knots over this. I am terrified. Will I say abroad forever? I've worked overseas before and know from experience that the longer one stays abroad the harder it is to integrate back into your home culture. I've pretty much accepted the fact that if I don't die suddenly I will have to kill myself if I get too old and sick to work. I should also mention I have stratospheric levels of student loan debt:(
In conclusion, if something miraculous doesn't happen locally I will be on a plane soon after the new year. I consider myself fortunate to have this option but the fear is overwhelming. Thank you kindly for reading. I just needed to get this off my chest.

Go. Do it. Maybe it's what is supposed to happen. Take control of your life, don't let your life control you.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
