I am in florida,,,and if you compare State Employment Services from say 2 decades ago and what they have morphed into today,,you would think that you landed on two completely different planets,,,
Back when you would individually sit with an employment counselor and review you resume,,,cross index with Job Order cards and actually have the counselor call the employer and pitch for you,,,if the job was still open you went down there and off you go,,,I know cause I used to be employed at the Florida Job Service,,,
Now it is posted on a computer that has jobs that mostly are no longer active or are so old they are months back,,,you cannot contact an employer to see or ask anything ,,you do any contacts by e/mail or worse computer applications along with a thousand others applying for the same job that is most of the time no longer active,,,
It has degenerated into an embarracement and a joke...few if any people actually get jobs through this system,,,most people who try usually give up pretty quickly,,,

i said for job seekers, we seem to think you are hiring for that position, but if it is no longer active or filled; how are we suppose to know that if whoever is suppose to be in charge of putting the ads up should also take them down once the position is not active or filled?
she was dead silence when i said that. this happen at other positions i have applied for with other companies. in a workshop i attended, they said only 8% of job seekers actually get jobs online i said 8%?!? why would that be a good thing?
i agree i see a lot of times employers won't have contact info or maybe just an email, god who knows when they will respond!
