I don't know about your specific situation, but very often, managers know who they're going to hire before the job is even posted.


They often advertise jobs, and go through the interviewing process with the cross-section of eligible candidates in order to comply with Equal Employment Opportunity statutes.


This is common practice, even in state and federal government. Sometimes it backfires, when one of the ringer candidates is much more qualified than their pre-selected choice, that they hire them. Not often though…" - Ted Boucher at Quora.com

Another possibility - "Every interviewer is human and has unfathomable numbers of prejudices. Conflict with any one of them and they will prefer another candidate, of which there are usually lots for only that one job. So prepare for almost anything to be wrong and, if you don’t get the job, move on to the next opening and interview. On the other side of the coin, you only need ONE job, so only need ONE (or maybe a couple of same company) interviewer(s) to like you." - Dave Crisp at Quora.com

Thank you this was very helpful. I have been looking for a job for almost three years now. I have went to almost everyone for help; job representatives, career advisers, staffing agencies, even a few job fairs. And all of them told me something different. And that is why am on here. So, individuals, like me with no job can understand how am feeling and where am coming from. I have tried everything known to man during that 3 years.

@deanna33 I’d bet that if you and I had a conversation, you’d see your true potential from a whole new/or different perspective.

Essentially, you’re trying to fit into a box that you’ve allowed others to decide whether you can get into it or not. Too many unemployed or underemployed people are. Society helps mold people that way. It keeps wages down as a side-employer benefit.

Even if you really wanted to play in that sandbox, are you entering from a position of strength or weakness?

A good recruiter worth their salt can see you coming a mile away and would pull down the shade and appear ‘Closed.’

When you learn a better, more effective approach and apply it - one that raises, at a minimum, your confidence and self-esteem, folks will see you coming from a mile away and really fight for you to join their team.
