I don't know about your specific situation, but very often, managers know who they're going to hire before the job is even posted.
They often advertise jobs, and go through the interviewing process with the cross-section of eligible candidates in order to comply with Equal Employment Opportunity statutes.

Essentially, you’re trying to fit into a box that you’ve allowed others to decide whether you can get into it or not. Too many unemployed or underemployed people are. Society helps mold people that way. It keeps wages down as a side-employer benefit.
Even if you really wanted to play in that sandbox, are you entering from a position of strength or weakness?
A good recruiter worth their salt can see you coming a mile away and would pull down the shade and appear ‘Closed.’
When you learn a better, more effective approach and apply it - one that raises, at a minimum, your confidence and self-esteem, folks will see you coming from a mile away and really fight for you to join their team.
