Wow, I didn't know group interviews existed! That's a new one on me!

I guess the important thing for an interview like this is you don't want to just blend into the woodwork, but, you don't want to conduct yourself in a way that you just overpower the group either. In other words, you want to be noticed, but, in a positive way.

Not sure how much you want this position, but, especially if you really want it, I would just make sure my body language and facial expressions show that you're really interested in being considered for the position. Smile when appropriate and make good eye contact. If, for example, the interview says, "...does anyone have any questions about the position?" have some questions ready to ask. That will show your interest.

A group interview gives you the rare opportunity to size up your competition right on the spot. (What could be better?) You're not there to nail them to the cross...you just want to do better than they do for this interview so the job is offered to you, not one of them.

Get your interview questions ready, then relax and show the company that you're the right choice for the position.

I did a group interview once... I remember asking if each of them could tell me what they enjoyed about working in the department and or together and what they found challenging.

There is only one way I've been able to win with interviews and that's to be myself. Of course we all go in with our best clothes, resume, smile, questions memorized, handshake, etc. When it comes down to the decision making, if the interviewers can't 'feel' the real person in you, they won't get a 'real' inclination for you. I hope that makes sense. Good luck!

ohhhh...the 'GROUP INTERVIEW'....designed to rattle your cage!! DON'T buy it!! Just answer each question as completely and positively as possible and make sure you make eye contact with all the "interviewers"...it's not as scary as it seems, you will do fine!!! Good luck!!!

I'm also curious as to how it went. I've never been involved in a group interview. Sounds very interesting.

I have recently joined Toastmaster's. Seems like involvement with this organization would really help prepare me for something like this! :)

It was AWFUL, I just wanted to get the Beep out of there, everyone's answere was the same, I was trying to change my answer somewhat and completely froze when giving out my answer, the anxiety and the tingling hot feeling in my face was how I was feeling. Then I had another interview yesturday and I was 2nd choice due to I didn't ask enough questions, when they brought me to ask questions to the 3rd person who's position I was going to fill in, she had me in the door way to ask her questions, feeling rushed feeling, not asking to sit down or anything, the agency said to me their not sending me out on anymore interviews that if a position comes up to fill right there and then they would place me. OMG I am soo depressed and in tears right now.

I'm so sorry! The good news is, you have time to check out the group granny mentioned. Toastmaster's is nationally accredited and can help you with things you feel you need, like freezing on an interview. It will be OK, things are going to work out!
