I noticed on your profile that you're adopted. I adopted my daughter when she had just turned two years old. She'll turn 22 next month and is the joy of my life. I'm in the process of becoming a CASA volunteer, which is an organization that matches volunteers with children in the foster care system. Volunteers are matched with a child as the child moves through the court system, becoming an advocate of the child to the court. I attended the orientation about a month ago and have submitted all of my paperwork. Tomorrow I have my first meeting with the head of my local CASA chapter. If all goes well, I'll move on to the background check and waiting for my fingerprints to go through the Department of Justice. The next training series starts in early February and I'm hoping to have my file completed so I can start in that class.

That sounds great becoming a CASA volunteer, I will look into this, I would love to give back, and this would a great area to start. Thanks for the info. Best wishes on your job search.
