December has typically been the worst month for employment and/or retaining of a job from my observations and experience ,,without a doubt I was alway or almost always fired or let go in the month of December ,,,Corporations will dump there workforces en mass this month usually right before Christmas ,,,sometimes with less than a weeks notice ,,,why ??? ,,,they have to close out there overhead and expenditures bafore the begining of the new year,,,mostly for tax purposes,,the latsest example is Citi who is dumping about 11k workers before the end of the year,,give or take some,,,and if you are lucky and high up in a corporation you get to particpate in a buy out ,,which is what the New York Times is doing ..they are also slicing their workforce this month,,

I have observed that companies tend to avoid hiring during the mid month of November through Jan. 3rd. I just assumed it was because they didn't want to train new employees during the holidays.
I think Citi is one of the first few of a long list of companies that will be shedding workers in the near future. I hope I am wrong. I gladly accept egg on my face for making this statement. But, I have this horrible, gut wrenching feeling, it's HERE WE GO AGAIN.
Of course for some of us, we haven't recovered from the FIRST recession so a SECOND one is just more of the same.
