I plan on having my son in our room for at least the 1st 4 months most likely the 1st 6months as I'm going to attempt to breastfeed. thought I'm only having a single baby I wouldn't find it comfortable at night to leave him in a room all by himself until he's at least able to roll over on his own.

We had our babies in our room for several months. We had two pack n plays in our bedroom with the bassinets on top. I think it was more difficult for me to move them to their own room than it was for them! My babies were in the NICU for 2 months and when they came home I was super paranoid about SIDS. They are 11 months old and I still worry about it. The one thing that put my mind somewhat at ease and stopped me from checking their breathing constantly was the Snuza baby movement monitor. They're expensive but for me they are totally worth it because it gives me peace of mind. You can buy them on Amazon. It's a tiny monitor that fits on their diaper and alarms if they stop breathing. I've had very few false alarms. I'd highly recommend it.

We put one crib in our bedroom's sitting room and left the door open into our bedroom. They shared until 6 weeks, when they started moving around more. We then moved them into their room down the hall into separate cribs. We used a monitor and had no problems. Good luck!

We put our two boys in their own cribs in the room right next door from the very beginning. I didn't breastfeed and we just kept a monitor on. It has worked great for us.

You should look into the Fisher Price Rock n Play cradles...they are great space savers, mobile and at a little incline which is nice for spit ups/reflux. My boys slept in those exclusively for the first 4 months.

We bought 2 of the smaller size pack n plays and kept them next to our bed. I was also worried about SIDS, but true SIDS is actually pretty rare. I see suffocation as much more of a threat, so I made sure to keep my babies in separate beds, just to be safe.
I don't think there would be any problem with having them in a separate room. You will probably get more sleep that way! I don't know if you have any other kids, but newborn babies are very noisy little sleepers, especially starting at about 6 weeks of age. Grunting and groaning all night long.....oh Lordy. Not easy to sleep around! lol

We tried to keep our girls in our room but no one got a ny sleep. From day 2 they have been in their room in separate cribs. They can see and hear each other and sleep well. We just listen in on the monitor.

We also have a very small bedroom with our bed taking up most of the space. We are able to squeeze one pack n play with bassinette on it in our room. Our twins are not here yet; but the hopes are to have them share the bassinette for a while in our room- so I can hear them and breastfeed easier. Not sure how that is going to pan out but it is my plan. There is a reasonably priced pack n play/bassinette at Target that is fairly narrow-might do the trick for you.

Thanks for all the replies! I think we're going to have the boys in their own room from day 1 since its really close to ours. We'll have a monitor and hubby is going to be helping me a lot with them, even if he thinks he will be getting more sleep than me! lol I'm on another site with a twins group and a lot of those women have had no problems with their twins in a separate room, so we'll see how well it works.
