Congratulations! Welcome to the group! There was a size difference in my girls too in the early u/s. Try not to worry too much they will probably even up or get relatively close in size. Funny thing is when they were born they were very close in size and weight (3.2 and 3.3 in weight and 15 and 15 1/2 inches in height) Now they are 2 pounds different in weight and 2 inches different in height! My twins were always right on top of each other in weight and size when I had my ultrasounds - and EVERY time the tech and/or doc would tell me how rare that was and how almost ALWAYS there is a difference in size. Not only is it still early for you, but even if your twins maintain the difference in size it is perfectly normal as long as both are in healthy range (and if they are fraternal they have their own placentas which will help keep it from being a problem since they won't be competing for the same resources).

Congratulations! My whole pregnancy baby b was bigger then baby A. They were 4-13 baby a and 6-1 baby b at birth. Now at 7 months baby a is 19lbs and baby B is 22 lbs big boys and they were born at 35 weeks!

Like LJ 1981 mine were always within a very close range and my doc was telling me how unusual that was. At the end they started to change numbers baby a at 4lb 14oz and baby b at 4 lb 4oz and now at 15 months baby b is the bigger heavier twin by a pound or 2. one of my cousins twins were always 1 was bigger the other smaller the whole pregnancy and my other cousin was like me both her twins were born exactly same weight at 6 lb 1oz. it totally varies and it is expected it should do so.

For us Twin A was always smaller than Twin B on the u/s. When born, Twin A was still smaller at 3-11 and Twin B was 4-8. Now at almost 3 years, there is still a pound and a half difference between them.

My twins were always in close range of each other in weights. Baby A weighed 6 lbs and Baby B 5lbs 10 oz.
I wanted to point out something and I am just repeating what was "told" to me so the information could be wrong or it could be true but when I went to my OB for the US I was told my twins were fraternal because they were in seperate sacs. HOWEVER when I went to see the "specialist" I was told by him that doesn't constitute twins to being "fraternal". He said it all depends on certain factors such as if the egg split early enough then it could form it's own but if it splits later on then it doesn't have time to do so. I was told I wouldn't really know until the placenta's could be sent to pathology. Mine ended up coming back as fraternal but I also read somewhere too that this form of testing is not always accurate either-who knows!??? I know mine are fraternal because they look different to me however no one believes me when I tell them they are fraternal everyone thinks they have always been identical twins. Anyways I just wanted to point that out because I wanted to know too which one's mine were and it made it a lot more fun to wait and see what they looked like-we swore they were identical when they were first born and surprised when the report came back fraternal but the older they get the more you see it.

weird.... my doc would always say how rare it was that my twins always measured the exact same, but after reading this, it seems pretty normal.... that said, amanda, congrats!!! they didnt even tell me measurements when i had my first u/s.... or maybe they did but i was to excited to listen.... i did ivf..... i think when you go through all the infert. treatments and a m/c its normal to feel scared, i had a m/c at 11 weeks before i got preg. with my twins, the preg. i m/c , i dont know, i felt something was not the same as my other preg. i cant even explain what or why.... but when isaw those 2 hearts beating away, i just knew i was going to have 2 healthy babies, good luck to you, what a wonderful road you have to travel!

hi congrats i'm a twin ( fraternal girl/girl) where 13 know and i love being a twin my twin and I where both 6lbs and 12 oz when we where born. we where born at 39 weeks
