So I had hoped to make it to 38 weeks but sadly my body didn't seem to want to cooperate. Yesterday, at 34 weeks, I developed severe preeclampsia, with blood pressures in the range of 171/93, sharp headache, and blurred vision. My husband drove me to the hospital and I was admitted and a c-section was scheduled for this morning. So, at 7:43 and 7:49 this morning, Anika Marie and Kai Mio were born. Anika weighed in at 4lbs 11oz and was the first born. Kai was 5lbs 3oz. Both have no breathing issues and though they can't really breastfeed yet, I am pumping colostrum already and giving it to the NICU to feed to them. I'm hoping that they will continue to do well and their suck/swallow reflex will develop so I cam breastfeed them, but in the meantime I will pump and bring my milk to the NICU. I am so sad that they won't be coming home with me when I get discharged, they will have to stay in the NICU for a total of 2-3 weeks, but I'll be here everyday to be with them as will my husband. I am so grateful that they are as healthy as they are, and I feel so amazingly blessed and in love every time I look at them. To all the ladies out there who gave me advice and comfort, thank you! To all those expecting, best wishes for healthy pregnancies. To those still trying to conceive, don't give up hope. It took 4 years, 2 miscarriages, many IUI cycles, failed IVF, and a final diagnosis of diminished ovarian reserve to steer us in the direction of using donor eggs. On our first DE IVF attempt we discovered we were pregnant with twins and here we are!
Life really is amazing...I am over the moon happy.

Congratulations on your babies!!! I also love their names. Maybe Kai will come home sooner than you think. My twins were born at 36 weeks and 1 of them weighed 5lbs 1oz and she came home with me. Enjoy them as they grow oh so quickly during the 1st 6 mos and then kinda slow down.

Thank you all for the well wishes. They are now free of their IV's and are taking feedings by mouth, Kai completely and Anika mostly with some occasionally still gong down the GI tube. The pediatrician said that if they keep doing as well as they have been that they will come home by next weekend but I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high just in case. They are wonderful and amazing though and I love them more than I ever thought possible.
