Turner Syndrome Support Group

Turner syndrome encompasses a number of chromosomal abnormalities, of which monosomy X, is the most common. It occurs in 1 out of every 2,500 female births. Instead of the normal XX sex chromosomes for a female, only one X chromosome is present and fully functional. In Turner syndrome, female sexual characteristics are present but underdeveloped.

Social issues and working

Do any of you have trouble holding down a job due to others claiming they don't like you? I have had this happen twice. I also seem to have trouble developing friendships, and have never dated. I have come to the conclusion I must have social issues and am working with a counselor. We are wondering how many of us have this and how are we dealing with it.

Yes. That happens to me a lot. I've had many, many, many jobs and leave because I feel like I'm not liked, appreciated or wanted there. Dating is really hard for me too. I'm 34 and have never been married. I'm dating someone now but it's still very new and his job takes him away so we haven't had a lot of time together.

Im 28 and work as a nurce and theres no problems with my coworkers. And i really enjoy my job. It has given me a lot of self-confidence. But i have to admit that i have never dated also. And i have a little hard to develop friendships. I think that is because i dont trust people so easily. And I think that we, with TS struggle with so many things that has taken all our self-confidence even in small things. So keep your head up and know that you are not alone :)

Your not alone I'm twenty nine and had never dated also and find it really hard to develop friendships.

Wow I thought is was just me. When it comes to friendships I'm the same way. I just think that people are just using me or are being nice, and dating is pretty much nonexistent.

Hi ladies,
I struggle with my self confidence and depression and anxiety. I did not date until I met my hubby. We are all in this fight together. Please be encouraged and know that there is hope and love out there for each of you. Hugs!

Thank you for all the replies. I don't feel so alone in this struggle. How do we fix it? I just want to have a successful intimate relationship and a nice career.

I work part-time as a psw. I have faced discrimination on the part of some clients at work too, but I still have a few I've had for a long time. The first step to developing a friendship is to strike up a conversation with someone.

hi, yes this sounds all familiar, i have alot of trouble trying to make friends.. well what i mean by that is a close friend there are people i know but not a close friend... i have allways had problems with jobs and situations...just who i am i guess, but i used to think it was everyone else... who has the problem with me..and still dont know how to deal with this at the age of 44...ive tried many ways to be different so that im liked, but sort of gave up. perhaps just being me sort of helps me to be content a little. hope this make sence

Well I can totally relate. I have had trouble relating to people at work and dating is very off and on for me. I am 37 and still single. I just purchased two books about social learning from a resource I found on the web call Social Thinking. I have really learned a lot from the first one and am looking forward to reading the next one. If these resources will help I have not idea, but even if I am more aware there is the potential for change and success. I am considering counseling also. What kinds of things do you work on with that ?
