Turner syndrome encompasses a number of chromosomal abnormalities, of which monosomy X, is the most common. It occurs in 1 out of every 2,500 female births. Instead of the normal XX sex chromosomes for a female, only one X chromosome is present and fully functional. In Turner syndrome, female sexual characteristics are present but underdeveloped.
My daughter has been taking the GH shot for two years now, she is 12 years old. We have always paid a $500 co-pay for a three month supply and the insurance company has picked up the rest. Today when I tried to order her refill the insurance company told me that they had been incorrectly charging us all this time. They said that we had to pay 40% of the cost of the medicine, which is $4,275 for a three month supply! And when we reorder in November it will be the same! We CAN NOT afford this! Does anyone know of any foundations that assist with payment of these drugs? We have a co-pay assistance already, but they don't pay anywhere near $4,000 each order. After we pay $10,000 out of pocket for the year for this medicine the insurance picks up the rest, but that is a tremendous amount on top of medical bills, which are a separate out of pocket expense. I am so frustrated!!!! Any advice or guidance will be greatly appreciated!
You can appeal the decision:
Phone them and ask them for their policy on prescription drug re-embursments and co-pays.
Also ask them for their policies previsions on anything pertaining to growth hormone treatments.
And policy previsions on endochronology also on obstetrics and gynecology.
Demand that they mail you each of these.
You will need to read through all of that, and you may find something of a loop hole, something regarding ts specifically even...
...and if you do find something specific which makes this new decision of theirs illogical, you can use that as basis for appeal.
Or move to MA.
