My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about 8 months now. I had been tracking my ovulation. I am not at all regular, but I can usually see a pretty clear temp spike, with a typical luteal phase of about 14 days. Cycles are a bit long, ranging from 30-35 days (usually around 35), with my longest in the past 8 months (since stopping bc pills) at 38 days.
Mid July, just after my last af, I decided to stop tracking my temp for awhile because I was just tired of it. Tired of the disappointment at failure, tired of the hoping and being let down, tired of all of it. Thought we'd start back up actively trying in September, but take a break for summer.
Except that this cycle has completely thrown me for a loop and I don't understand what's going on. My husband and I are fairly intimate, bd several times a week. July 25th (which was day 16 of my cycle) I noticed cm and noticed that I had a significant sexual awareness and felt like I was probably ovulating. I wasn't actively tracking with tests and temp, but I felt like it. Bd'd a lot that evening and the entire weekend.
Day 20 of my cycle I had spotting. Not significant enough to be a period by far, but definite light spotting that lasted for 2 days or so. Thought possibly implantation bleeding? I also, about a week after that, had a slight pH imbalance. I wouldn't classify it as severe enough to call it a yeast infection, but definite discomfort. Also around this time I started getting extremely tired, all the time. I started going to bed earlier because I was exhausted, but still being tired!
So, despite my desires to remain unattached and keep my thoughts from drifting back to the same hopes that have been repeatedly dashed, I'm sure you all know exactly what I've been thinking. Which brings me to the awful migraine of August 11 (day 33 of my cycle), still no af, and every day since then I have just felt off.
Nausea/dizziness/vertigo, but not intense (I haven't actually thrown up, I just feel generally like if I did throw up I would feel better). Some days are worse than others, but it's always there. I have heard that morning sickness isn't just in the morning, but it definitely seems as though I feel worse in the morning and it gradually gets better as the day goes on.
So, here we are on day 40 of my cycle (which is very long, even for me), no af, feeling crappy, and two bfn within the past 4 days. Despite my reluctance because I feel so crappy when I get bfn, I decided to test Friday morning (17 days after I thought implantation may have occurred), and got a bfn. I wasn't convinced because of how I still feel. I really don't think that I could be inventing all this in my head and thinking myself to feel this way (do you have any idea what I mean, or am I just crazy?). I drink a lot of water (like 11-15 8oz glasses/day), and I thought that may have had an effect because it could be that it was to diluted to detect, so I decided to try again this morning. Yesterday I didn't drink much water at all (3 glasses), in order to ensure that my first morning urine would be undiluted, but STILL BFN. Still no af. and my cm is very moist and not at all dried up as it usually is shortly before I get my period.
I hate the I have no idea wth is going on with my body part of all this...
Thoughts, please, encouragement, ideas, anything???

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
Food has been weird for me. I love chicken, it's one of my favorite meals, probably my favorite meat. Last week I was making chicken for dinner and the smell of it was making me gag. I wasn't able to eat the dinner because of it. My husband and stepdaughter said it was fine, there wasn't anything unusual about it. Also, I hate green beans with a passion, but we were serving them to patients last week at the hospital and they smelled so good and all of a sudden I found my mouth watering over this food that I cannot stand.
Took my temp this morning before testing and getting bfn, and noticed that it was unusually low. It was 97.34, which, for me, is typical for before ovulation...it's only one reading so who knows, but still strange because I can't imagine being on day 40 and no ovulation yet.
Oh well. Whatever. Who cares anyways? Not trying to be so negative, because I know negativity is a poison. I just feel so gosh darn crappy today. Well, if I'm not pregnant anyways I guess I'll just drink myself a bottle of wine tonight. I don't think anyone's reading this anyways, I'm just writing to myself....kinda like a journal, I guess, maybe it helps a little. I don't know that, either.
"The pain you are feeling can't compare to the joy that is coming."
Hope this helps! Hugs and baby dust to you! :)
There is just no way to be for sure, unless you get a positive pregnancy test... and sometimes a blood test is the only way to get a positive because they don't always show up on the pee-sticks (I had a friend who had to do it through a blood test because it never showed on the stick! sure enough, she was pregnant..... of course she was 18 and just out of high school, been with her boyfriend for 3 months.... but I guess that's just the way life goes... go figure)
Have you been to see your doctor yet? If you are trying for a very long time with no success, you should definitely go to see your Dr. Especially if your cycles are really long or irregular. I was put on Clomid for that reason (they were anywhere from 30-70 days, and a few were complete anovulatory cycles, in which my period had to be induced by taking progesterone).
If it helps at all, there are many women out there dealing with these issues too.... even though it often feels like we're totally alone in this struggle! Our time will come, and we will be so happy then, this pain will all be forgotten :)
Good luck, baby dust to you!

I have been to see my doctor. They told me they won't even talk about it until we have been trying for at least a year. I think that's ridiculous, because it's an entire year that I feel like I'm loosing. Also, this has been the longest 8+ months of my life.
My husband has also been to his doctor to ask, and I absolutely hate the way they responded to him. They basically said that fertility issues are dealt with "through the wife" and that if he had questions we needed to go to my doctor. Which, I don't get, because if we have questions about his swimmers why would I ask my doctor? It infuriated him, too, because he felt he was dismissed without his concerns being addressed or recognized. Which, basically, is what happened.
I hear all of you talk about endo and clomid and all these other options of things to try, and my doc won't even do anything to help me try to figure out why were having issues...
It seems the second I reached my resolve to quit trying it happened.
It took over a year. I'm not positive my soft cup (yes, it's like a Diva Cup) helped conceive but the month I used it, I got my BFP.
I know there are herbal pills you can take to help regulate your period but they are expensive and I have never tried them. My DH took Maca for 4 months and though we did not get or BFP during those months, he was very horny and produced a LOT. Women can also take Macs for fertility. You can find it at health store like GNC.
I know it is important that you regulate your period. The entire year we tried my periods were off. My periods had always been 28 days and for some reason they were coming early by almost 5 days. The month before I got my BFP, it was 27 days- I was super elated. That next montb I found myself more anxious to see if my period would come on day 28 then I was to test. AF never came.
Don't give up! I know the heartache you feel, but stay strong. Try not to stress, it only makes it harder.
You will be in my thoughts.
