Softcups/Diva for TTC?

I have just read MANY articles about using INSTEAD SOFTCUPS when TTC...has anyone heard of this? Has anyone tried it? I found a lot of information and think I might give this a shot.

The only negative thing I could find was about the softcup itself...where one person said it got stuck and they needed medical attention to remove it (yikes).

I am new to this support group, so if you guys have been talking about this a million times, I'm sorry. I DID do a search in DS for Instead Softcups in here and only found a post from 2 yrs ago that sounded somewhat promising.

Please let me know any thoughts...

I Have heard alot of people say they tried them and liked them. i was wondering, is the only place u get them is from ordering them online?

You can buy them at Walgreens only $12 or so. I had a hard time getting them in there and to stay in place. Good Luck!

i never thought of using it that way! ive been using the diva cup for almost 2 years, and i love it for af. the thing with the diva cup tho, is that it doesnt get inserted all the way up to the cervix, so that would just act more like a stopper to keep it from coming out, but it wouldnt necessarily keep the semen at the cervix. the softcup you mentioned looked more like a diaphragm to me, so i can see how that would keep the semen close to the cervix, however, i would be concerned that all the effort to get it up there would dislodge any semen that could already be there. that is also probably why some people had trouble with it getting stuck, because it goes so high up, whereas the tip of a diva cup sits justs inside the vagina, at easy reach. ido highly recommend the diva cup for af, tho.

Thank you guys for the info! I did some more research and learned there are videos on YouTube that really help with insertion & removal of INSTEAD SOFTCUPS (including tips to help keep your hands from getting dirty if using as intended..AF). I know they are available at lots of local grocery & drugstores, including Walmart, but I was going to order mine from Drugstore.com, because we order from them a lot anyway. (They sell 24 for $9.59, which seems awesome)

Pattijo, I had not known the difference between the placement of Instead vs. Diva!! Thank you for that! I think I am going to try INSTEAD out and see how it goes...for both purposes! :-) I'm expecting a learning curve, because it sounds like there will be...

I have tried them and had success, but it could have been pure luck. They are not hard to use, just can be a little yucky. I also had a little pain b/c it pushes against your pelvic bone. I purchased mine online.

i have treid this for the last few months with no success. i have used instead for my menstral cycle prior to hearing it could be used for this and have never had a problem with them getting stuck. im a physician and have only seen that happen in really over weight patients and they are not able to reach far enough in to remove them. good luck

Heather, did you use the INSTEAD softcups for your most recent BFP? I am looking forward to trying it when we TTC in November. I am giving them a shot right now for AF and they are a little odd. Congratulations on your new baby on the way!
